Osun State government has earmarked a mobilisation sum of n2billion for the construction of an international airport in osogbo.
the federal government had awarded the construction of the airport to the tune of n7.8billion but yet to commence due to non-release of funds.
however speaking with a business community in sydney,australia, on tuesday,the state governor, prince olagunsoye oyinlola said his admnistration had decided to mobilise the contractor handling the job to the tune of n2billion with a view to ensuring the early take off of the project
"we are offering to mobilise the contractor handling our airport project the sum of n2billion so that work can start earnestly on the site before the federal government releases the money. we know we shall be reimbursed later".
prince oyinlola maintained that the project was paramount to the progress of the economy of the state particularly with the on going construction of the free trade zone.
he said many things were being put in place to make industrialisation efforts of his admnistration a reality,noting that the trade zone would at completion, have eight phases.
in doing this however, the govrnor averred that conscious efforts were being made to develope sectors of the economy"remarkable efforts have been made to develope strategic areas of economy like solid minerals,agriculture,education,information and technology"
prince oyinlola then implored the business community to avail themselves of the opportunities offered by the zone to partner with the state.
responding,the ceo of australian classical design and controls{acdc} engineering firm in australia,dr dapsy latona and marcus jackson promised to explore the resouces in the state.
