Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has admonished Muslims to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and obedience to God which their religion teaches through the Eid el Kabir.
The Governor, in his Sallah message to all muslims, congratulated them for seeing yet another Eid el Kabir and urged them to show appreciation to Almighty Allah by being their brothers keeper at all times.
He said people of means must ensure that the less privileged in the society are catered for as preached and practiced by the Prophet while they should also use the occasion to rededicate themselves to the service of God.
“The lessons of total submission to the will of Allah which Prophet Ibrahim displayed in his acceptance of the divine instruction to sacrifice his son, Ismael, should not be lost on all Muslims. In submitting to God’s will, every true Muslim should equally know that we have no control over destinies. As such, we should not be desperate in the pursuit of our worldly goals.
“As we celebrate this festival, I pray that Almighty Allah will give us all the grace to worship him truthfully, seek his mercy so that He will give us all a share of every good thing of life,” the Governor said.
Prince Oyinlola wished all Muslims a happy Eid el Kabir celebration and further urged them to be moderate in marking the festival.
