OSUN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON INFORMATION VISIT
GOVERNMENT AGENCIES
In line with its oversight functions, Osun State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Youth and Sports has paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to some government agencies under its supervision.
The five man Committee led by Hon. Olatunji Ogunleye was at the Ministry of Information and Youth Development, Council for Arts and Culture, Osun State Sports Council, Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Ministry of Women Affairs and the State Tourism Board.
Addressing the Management and Staff of these government agencies separately, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Ogunleye said the visit was not a witch hunting one but aimed at creating an enabling environment and better understanding between the Committee and the agencies it oversee.
Hon. Ogunleye who said the era of business as usual in all the government agencies had gone charged the affected agencies to always submit the income and expenditure documents of their respective Ministries on quarterly basis to the Committee for probity, transparency and accountability.
While charging them to adhere strictly to budgetary provisions of their respective agencies, the Committee Chairman also enjoined them to devise means of increasing Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of their different agencies as monthly allocation received by the Sate Government from the Federal Government is too low to cater for the needs of the people.
In their remarks, the Commissioner for Information and Youth Development, Mrs. Idiat Aderinto, the Executive Director, Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Olawuni, the General Manager, State Sports Council, Apostle Peter Adedeji, the Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Obafemi Fagbola and his counterpart at the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs. Fausat Sarumi Adebanjo described the visit as a welcome development.
Other members of the Committee on the visit with the Chairman were Hon. Ropo Oyewole, Hon. Olaide Ajibola, Hon. Samson Fafiyebi, Hon. Folarin Fafowora, Hon. Abiodun Awolola and Hon. Ademola Ajiboye.
The tour ended with a visit to OSBC headquarters, Ile Awiye Oke-Baale, Osogbo, where the Director General of the Corporation, Engineer Dele Oyebanji and other Management Staff were on ground to give the Chairman and members of the Committee a rousing reception.
