Osun State House of Assembly has succeeded in brokering peace between the labour and state government in respect of the actualisation of N9,500 minimum wage across the board for workers in the state.
The workers had issued a 14 day ultimatun which prompted the Speaker of the parliament, Hon Adejare Bello to call for a tripartite meeting with the house of assembly as the arbiter.
The Speaker noted that the meeting has succeeded in establishing the fact that the workers are not been instigated to confront the government.He added that it has also been established that the government has nothing to hide in respect of allocation and expenditure profile.
Briefing the press after a four hour long negotiation,the Speaker said the labour leaders as well as representative of government have demonstrated immense love for the State by agreeing to reason.
The meeting resolved that the full implementation of the minimum wage across board will take effect from the 1st day of June.
According to Hon Adejare Bello , it was good enough that the matter has been finally laid to rest.
The meeting had in attendance the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, Head of Service, elder Segun Akinwusi, Special adviser on labour and others from the government side.
The labour side was represented by chairmen and secretaries of joint negotiating councils as well as NULGE and NUT.
