DEMOCRACY DAY: OYINLOLA CALLS FOR ATTITUDINAL CHANGE

As the nation marks the fifth anniversary of the advent of democracy in the country, Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State has called for concerted efforts of all stakeholders to sustain it.

The governor spoke as he has lined up a number of roads, water schemes and health projects for commissioning to mark the fifth anniversary of his administration in the state.

These projects are Unity —Ikire—Ikoyi road, Itawure-Esa-Oke-Imesi Ile junction road, Ada-Ibokun-idominasi road, Ife-Odan Mini Water Scheme,Oluponna Water Scheme, Eko Ende/Inisa water Scheme and Iperindo water scheme.

Others are Maternity Complexes at State Hospitals in Osogbo, Iwo and Ilesa, Infant Welfare Ward and Pharmacy Building at state hospital, Osogbo among others.

Governor Oyinlola, in a broadcast to the people of the state this morning to mark the event said the nation needed attitudinal change to optimally develop its potentials.

“We all must be collectively involved in the arduous task of re-creating this society. Each and everyone of us will have to persevere and work harder.  It is unrealistic to expect that solutions to our myriad of problems would emerge at once. We must, therefore, not expect a magical resolution of the fundamental systemic and structural problems which have accumulated over the years, he said.

He added that his administration had continued to provide institutional framework, amenities and guidelines for the emergence  of a virile  economy  that would transform Osun State.

“We remain totally convinced that there is hope and therefore, no reason for complacency. It seems very certain that we must work hard to transform our attitudes and realize that each of us has unique contributions to make towards the success of our collective march towards self-reliance, sufficiency and life more abundant for all,” the governor said
