OYINLOLA HAILS APPEAL COURT VERDICT ON AC PETITION
Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has lauded the decision of the Court of Appeal in Ibadan which upheld the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives election for Ife Federal Constituency.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan on Monday dismissed an Appeal brought by the Action Congress candidate in Ife Federal constituency, Rotimi Makinde, against the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Albert Adeogun.
The AC candidate had gone to the Court of Appeal to contest the decision of the Justice Thomas Naron Tribunal in Osogbo which last year dismissed his petition for lack of diligent prosecution.
Justice Istifanus Thomas who delivered the unanimous judgement of the Court of Appeal on Monday held that the dismissal of both the case and the application seeking to re-list it by the Justice Naron tribunal was in order. It consequently dismissed the appeal for lack of merit.
Governor Oyinlola said in a statement issued by his Special Adviser Media and Chief Press Secretary, Lasisi Olagunju that the appellate court’s affirmation of the dismissal of the AC candidates’ petition showed that justice could never go to an undeserving party.
He described the AC as a party that “makes more noise than its electoral value” while advising it to stop dissipating whatever remained of its resources on election litigation.
The governor expressed delight that despite the vicious propaganda of the AC, the vast majority of the people had remained loyal to his administration.
