LAWAL CHOSEN AS NEW TIMI OF EDE
The Osun State Executive Council has approved the appointment of Prince Muniru Adesola Lawal as the new Timi of Ede.
Briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting of the Council held on Tuesday, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Niyi Owolade said due process was followed in the choice of the new Oba.
According to him, Prince Lawal from Laminisa Ruling House was chosen by the Kingmakers of Ede out of the three names forwarded to them by the Ruling House.
He stated that by the 1979 Chieftaincy Declaration, the Laminisa ruling house is the Ruling House to produce the new Timi stressing that the government followed the law to the letter in taking the decision.
“Due process was followed in taking the decision on the choice of the new Timi of Ede. By the 1979 Declaration, the next Ruling House to produce the new Timi is the Laminisa Ruling House and so, the Local Government wrote the House to forward three nominees to the Kingmakers out of which the Kingmakers picked Prince Muniru Adesola Lawal. The government has thus approved the choice made by the Kingmakers according to the law,” he said.
The stool of Timi became vacant last year following the demise of Oba Tijani Oyewusi Agbonran11.
