OSUN STATE JUDICIARY
The Judiciary is the third arm of the Government in Osun State from the inception of the State on 27 August, 1991.
The Osun State Judiciary consists of the High Courts, Magistrate Courts and Customary Courts.
OBJECTIVES OF THE JUDICIARY
The objectives of the Osun State Judiciary are as follows:-
- to adjudicate on both Civil and Criminal Cases and thereby administer justice without delay.
- to punish offenders.
- to grant Probate Letters of Administration in respect of the Estates of deceased persons.
- to have custody of Wills.
- to edit and report the Judgement of High Courts for the benefit of the Legal Profession.
- to stock, equip and maintain Law Libraries for effective administration of Justice.
- to settle records of Appeal and forward the same to the Court of Appeal for speedy hearing of the Appeals.
- to see to the speedy execution of Judgements.
- to supply copies of Judgements, Orders, Ruling and other Judicial documents to Litigants promptly on payment of requisite fees.
THE HIGH COURT
The High Court of Justice has its headquarters along Ilobu Road, Oke-fia, in Osogbo. It is headed by the Honourable Chief Judge who doubles as the Head of Courts.
There are nine (9) Judicial Divisions of the High Court in Osun State. They are:-
- Osogbo Judicial Division
- Ile Ife Judicial Division
- Ilesa Judicial Division
- Ikirun Judicial Division
- Iwo Judicial Division
- Ejigbo Judicial Division
- Ila Judicial Division
- Ede Judicial Division
- Ikire Judicial Division

Although there are presently 13 serving Hon. Judges in Osun State but the Establishment position for Judges is 20.
MAGISTRATE COURTS
There are 9 Magisterial Districts in Osun State with Magistrate Courts sprea throughout the State. The 9 Magisterial Districts are:-

- Ilesa Magisterial District
- Ile-Ife Magisterial District
- Ikirun Magisterial District
- Ejigbo Magisterial District
- Ikire Magisterial District
- Iwo Magisterial District
- Ede Magisterial District
- Ila Orangun Magisterial District.

CUSTOMARY COURTS
There are 103 Grade “C” Customary Courts in Osun State with 103 Presidents and 206 members. The courts are located in the 30 Local Government Councils of the State.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
The Administrative Department of the Osun State Judiciary is headed by the Chief Registrar who is the Accounting Officer. He is equally the Sheriff and Probate Registrar. He sees to the day-to-day running of this critical arm of Government.
The officers of the Administrative Department are:-

The numerical strength of the Staff of Osun State Judiciary is presently 352
ASPIRATIONS
- To have an efficient, effective and trail-blazing Judiciary that would ensure justice delivery within the shortest possible time-frame.
- To ensure staff improvement by regular training both locally and abroad.
- To ensure compliance with the financial regulations in respect of monitoring of fees, fines and other monies accruing to the Government through the Judiciary.
- To ensure the discipline of officers and staff.
- To promote all Magistrates, Officers and Staff as at when due and in accordance with the approved scheme of service.
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Improvement in the number of cases disposed off by the Judiciary.
- Introduction of the Chief Judge’s Merit Award to the best Magistrate and Staff
- Local and Overseas trainings for Hon. Judges, Magistrates and Staff.
- Organising befitting Legal Year Services in both the Mosque and the Church to usher-in the new Legal Year.
- Successful resuscitation of Isokan Judiciary Cooperative, Investment and Credit Society Limited.
- Construction of a fuel dump to cater for the fuel, diesel and kerosene needs of the Hon. Judges and all staff.
- Construction of a befitting road network at High Court Osogbo and Ilesa.
- Construction of a befitting Restaurant at High Court Complex in Osogbo.
- Promotion of Magistrates and other Staff as at when due and in accordance with the approved scheme of service.
- Renovations of some dilapidated courtrooms and court buildings.
