BUREAU OF PARASTATALS
INTRODUCTION
When the present Administration came on board in May 2003, Bureau of Parastatals was put in place in the Governor’s Office with a Permanent Secretary as the administrative head.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE BUREAU
-
To examine and review the operations of the specialized Agencies of Government like OSSADEP, UNDP Programmes, OSSADEC, Parastatals, Boards and Commissions, etc. with a view to ensuring that implementation of their programmes are in consonance with the overall policy programmes of the Government.

To give broad and specific policy guidelines to all Agencies of Government, particularly Statutory Corporations and State owned companies, in the implementation of their organizational objectives with a view to making them result oriented and to monitor the implementation of such policy guidelines.

To give broad guidelines to the Statutory Corporations and State owned companies towards the achievement of their respective organizational goals.

To monitor the activities of the Statutory Corporations particularly with regard to appointment, promotion and discipline of their senior staff.

To process the retirement benefits of Staff of Statutory Corporations and Tertiary Institutions in the State owned Corporations and the Federal Government.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE BUREAU
The Bureau has recorded the underlisted achievements.

Prompt payment of retirement benefits to retirees from State Tertiary Institutions and Corporations.

Co-ordinated various moves by the Government to resuscitate some moribund State owned industries e.g. The Osun State Hotel, Living Spring Savings and Loan Ltd.

Served as a link between Boards, Corporations and State Government by attending meetings of their Boards and reporting back to the Government.

Organized seminars/workshops for top functionaries of Boards, Corporations and Tertiary Institutions.

Relevant circular letters were issued to these government agencies on issues relating to the policy of the present administration and improvement on their activity. For instance the circular letter issued on payment of 5% Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to Parastatals Pension Board has improved payment in this regard considerably.

Processed requests of Boards, Corporations and Tertiary Institutions to the State Government.

Reviewed, amendment and repeal of Edicts and processing of new bill for Boards, Corporations and Tertiary Institutions into Law.

Appointment and replacement of Board members into the State Parastatals, Corporation and Tertiary Institutions are being successfully handled by the Bureau under the Supervision of the Secretary to the State Government.
