How We Have Sustained The Payment Of Full Salaries To Our Workers – Osun Finance Commissioner

Commissioner for Finance in Osun, Mr Bola Oyebamiji has explained that the present administration under Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has been able to sustain the payment of full salaries to all categories of workers including pensions to pensioners because of the financial re-engineering of the current government.

He said another factor which has assisted the Oyetola led administration to be financially stable is the enforcement of the Treasury Single Account policy in all Ministries, Departments and Agencies which he said has helped in boosting the Internally Generated Revenue of the state.

Mr Oyebamiji stated this on Friday at the hallow chamber of the Osun state House of Assembly while defending the 2020 budget estimates of the finance conglomerate.

The commissioner stated further that another move which has helped in giving more financial freedom to the state government is the reduction In the cost of governance coupled with the transparent and accountable nature of the Adegboyega Oyetola led administration.

According to the financial expert, “We will continue to be financially stable and the reason is not farfetched. The present administration under Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has re-engineered the finances of the state in such a way that we will continue to pay full salaries to all categories of our workers and pay our pensioners as at when due.

“The Governor has assisted in boosting the I.G.R of the state tremendously by granting full support and assistance to the Osun Internally Revenue Service (O.I.R.S) as well as making sure that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies comply fully with the Treasury Single Account policy”.

Responding to questions on how the state will maintain her financial stability in the face of dwindling resources from the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee(FAAC), Oyebamiji explained that the projection of the state in terms of revenue generation has always been forward looking, stressing that the state has always been preparing not to be caught unawares.

“We are all aware that the heart of the state is the finance conglomerate through revenue generation, I can tell you that we have the full backing of Mr Governor on robust revenue drive, the state helmsman has given us the backing and the support that we need to drive our revenue. And also, with the Governor’s transparent style of governance am sure we will continue to be financially stable. Without revenue, there is nothing the state can do and that is why we are working round the clock at the finance conglomerate”. He stated.
