Residents Hail Governor Adeleke’s Action Plan for a Clean Environment in Osun
- Say Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation, good, timely
- Pledge support, cooperation for enforcement of environmental laws

Residents of Osun State have thumbed up the administration of Govetnor Ademola Adeleke for the setting up of a high powered Osun State Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation chaired by the Head of Service, Mr Samuel Ayanleye Aina.
As part of its mandate in less than 24 hours of its inauguration, the Taskforce which comprises of seasoned men and women drawn from different sectors of the state paid a sensitisation cum advocacy visits to many places in both Osogbo,the state capital and Ikirun, the headquarters of Ifelodun local government.
The residents in the course of the visit appealed to the state government for a return of stringent measures to curb littering and indiscriminate waste disposals in different towns, cities and communities.
Having listened to their plights on how to restore a refuse free environment throughout the state , government on its part, according to the Chairman of the taskfoce, Mr Samuel Ayanleye Aina, will soon introduce refuse bins in strategic places to curb indiscriminate waste disposals by residents, in additiion to monitoring the effectiveness of FSP operators.
Aina added “This Taskforce will be going out to all major towns and cities of the state from time to time to raise the bar on good sanitary practises as outlined by the governor of Osun state, His Excellency, Sen. Adenola Adeleke who, in his wisdom, set it up.
Though the Taskforce acknowledges the myriads of tasks ahead, it however condemns in strong terms, the arbitrary nature with which residents as well as market men and women especially litters heap of efuse haphazardly in major places without due recourse to the law of environmental hygiene and cleanliness.
The Taskforce affirms its readiness to change peoples psyche about environmental hygiene throughout Osun state in the course of its assignment.
It also calls on all residents of the state to get involved in the target of maintaining a clean, tidy and hygienic environments.
To this end, it seeks for a collaboration with government in achieving a sustainable clean environment which can only be achieved with support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the state.
During the advocacy visit, the Ayanleye Aina’s led Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation seeks for an urgent action on the immediate removal of refuse heaps on major roads and road medians in addition to all bocked drainage systems to be attended to, with immediate effect.
Thie Taskforce expresses happiness with the positive feedback of people during the exercise as residents on their own now see and understand the need for a clean environment.
For quite sometimes now, the Adekeke led administration in Osun State has beamed its searchlights on the need to ensure an environmentally clean and refuse-free Osun especially in strategic places and markets where the acts are being carried out with impunity .
