BRIEF PROFILE OF THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH AFFAIRS

The Ministry of Youth Affairs was established in July 2023 by the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, following the division of the erstwhile Ministries of Youth and Sports into two separate entities: the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Sports and Special Needs.

Vision Statement

The vision of the Ministry of Youth Affairs is to inspire and empower a vibrant youth population in Osun State, enabling them to become productive, enterprising, and determined individuals who shape their own futures and contribute to the state's prestige and reputation.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Ministry is to serve as the primary instrument for achieving this vision, driving initiatives and programs that foster youth development and empowerment.

Objectives Of The Youth Development Department

  • Formulate and implement policies that engender all round youth development whilst ensuring enabling environment for youth development;
  • Promote and ensure youth involvement in decision making processes and developmental programmes and projects in the community, including democratic processes and matters affecting the youth;
  • Ensure mainstreaming of youth issues in all Governmental Agencies, institutions and Non-governmental institutions whilst ensuring that all youth programmes are youth cantered and youth driven;
  • Mobilize resources for youth programme and projects.

The functions and responsibilities of the Ministry of Youth and Sports are as follow:-

Youth Coordination

      The Ministry of Youth Affairs is responsible for the following functions and responsibilities:

(i) Overall coordination and organization of youth development activities and programs in the State, including:

Initiating, developing, and supervising physical structures for youth development.Reducing youth unemployment through self-employment enterprise promotion.Addressing socio-economic and health challenges facing young people.Promoting moral development and value orientation among youth.
