The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Saturday attended the investiture ceremony of Dr. George Elombi as he assumed office as the 4th President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in New Capital, Egypt.

Governor Adeleke was in attendance alongside Dr. Deji Adeleke, Chairman of Pacific Holdings Ltd; Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun; former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki; and Mrs. Toyin Saraki amongst other notable African Business Tycoons.

The ceremony also marked the farewell of Professor Benedict Oramah, who concluded an outstanding 10-year tenure as President of Afreximbank, leaving behind a legacy of visionary leadership and service to Africa’s economic development.

The event brought together notable African and global leaders, including former President Macky Sall of Senegal, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Cameroon’s Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze, Dr. Terrence Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts, and Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt.

Governor Adeleke also revealed that discussions are ongoing for a strategic partnership between Afreximbank and Osun State for the development of the state’s creative industry.

According to the governor, the partnership will focus on advancing the Adire industry and the Creative Economy, aimed at empowering local artisans, boosting exports, and creating sustainable jobs for youths and women.

“Osun State is positioning itself as a hub for creativity and cultural excellence,” Governor Adeleke stated.

“Our partnership with Afreximbank will open new frontiers for our creative sector and strengthen our role in Africa’s growing cultural economy”, the governor was quoted as saying.
