OSOGBO – 26/11/2025 – Osunstate.gov.ng

Osun State Security Council has met again to review and draft new service wide security measures to protect lives and properties from local and external threats.

The meeting attended by all service commanders was presided over by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi with far reaching conclusions on measures to further secure the state from infiltration by bandits and domestic criminals.

The Deputy Governor conveyed the commendation of Governor Adeleke to the service commanders and expressed optimism that the ongoing security plan will strengthen the security and safety of Osun people.

The meeting urged the public to deepen partnership with security agencies by sharing information and reporting any suspicious developments in their areas.

Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has warned against rising political violence in some parts of the state, directing the Commissioner of Police to clamp down on political killings across Ijeshaland.

Pleading with the political class to submit to people’s will and avoid violence, the governor decried recent killings at Ilesa, urging politicians to eschew thuggery and bloodletting.

“If truly our goal is to serve the people, we must focus on the ballot and free exercise of electoral choices by our people. I urge the Commissioner of Police to secure the affected areas and stop further killings”, the governor was quoted as saying.

In a related development, the state government has concluded arrangement to set up mobile courts to consist of eight (8) Magistrates.

In a new partnership between the executive and the judicial arms of government, the mobile court is to attend to overnight criminal activities, preliminary remand proceedings and other matters necessary to decongest the detention facilities among others.

The process started with a letter from the Governor’s legal adviser, Nurudeen Kareem Esq. to the Chief Judge of Osun state, calling for the establishment of the mobile courts to address congestion crisis across the detention facilities of most law enforcement agencies.

Governor Adeleke affirmed that his intervention is necessitated by the needs to avert violations of human rights, prevent security risks associated with congested cells and ensure that basic criminal justice procedures are maintained while efforts are intensified to solve the judicial workers strike.

The Chief Judge has positively acted on the letter and Osun state is to get mobile courts as quickly as possible.
