YOUR COOKED-UP NARRATIVE AGAINST AKINLEYE, A DESPERATION TAKEN TOO FAR– ADELEKE’S SPOKESPERSON.

OSOGBO– 18/06/2026– osunstate.gov.ng

The Spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has dismissed the allegation of violence raised against the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, as a conjecture and a desperate attempt to distract attentions from the campaign of terror the Osun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is waging on Osun people, declaring that Alhaji Akinleye is a man of peace who abhors violence in any form.

It is quite distasteful that the Osun APC is employing crooked means to target a good man with outright lies so as to impugn his character in the estimation of unsuspecting public.

Alhaji Akinleye is a politician well respected in the society for his peaceful disposition to pursuing political objectives.

If there is anyone or group who trades in violence to silence opponent, it is no other but the Osun APC, and it is quite unfortunate that the party will be so brazen to identify with Arabambi, a notorious thug who is suspected to be part of those who carried out shootings in Owode-Ede and Osogbo recently, causing the death of one person and injuring others.

Alhaji Akinleye is a thoroughbred democrat who respects the democratic rights to freedom of choice and at no time did he ever engage in forcing people to act against their belief.

Both the video of Arabambi and the follow-up statement by the Osun APC is scripted to mislead the public and a failed broader plan to take out Alhaji Akinleye out of circulation in the build up to the governorship election.

As a Government, the Adeleke administration has consistently rejected violence and called for actions against actors and their sponsors.

It is unfortunate that the Osun Police Command under Mr Ibrahim Gotan, has failed to act and this has emboldened the Osun APC political thugs to continue to unleash mayhem on the people.

In May this year, a member of the Accord, Mr Kolade Eluyera, was murdered in broad daylight by those believed to be APC thugs, and on June 3, 2026, the Accord Chairman in Osogbo local government, Mr Asimiyu Ajibola was shot at and receiving treatment in hospital. A few days ago, political thugs in AMBO branded campaign vehicles shot at the people, and up till now, no arrest has been made even when the attackers are not unknown to the Police.

It is therefore reprehensible for the Osun APC to want to shift attention away from its violent campaigns on Accord members and Osun people in general, and cast a peace loving man in a bad light.

It is on this note that we enjoin the police authority to conduct an unbiased and transparent investigation into the make-up narratives put up by the Osun APC and Arabambi, most especially the brazen lies about involving pliant officers at the Zone II Headquarters, which impugned the Force.

We reiterate that the Adeleke administration strongly rejects violence in whatever form and no one in the government, including Alhaji Akinleye, is a promoter of violence.

We therefore urge the state police command to take firm actions against APC thugs, who are mostly housed in the party’s chieftains hotels and offices.Let us resolve political disagreement though the ballot box.

Signed:
Mallam Olawale Rasheed,
Spokesperson to the State Governor.
