As part of his efforts to rejig the State of education in Osun and give it a new face, Osun Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has inaugurated an Ad-hoc Committee on University of Ilesha to see to proper installation of the Ivory Tower.

Speaking at the programme held at the Local Government Service Commission Hall, State Secretariat, Osogbo, the State Capital, Governor Adeleke urged the Committee to bring their wealth of experience to bear on the assignment.

He avowed that his administration is committed to make the University one of the best in the Country by providing everything necessary for the School to be solidly founded,while urging the Committee to engage the stakeholders with a view to forging the the way forward.

He mandated them to review and access resources for both the capital and asset of the Institution.

The Governor therefore gave them 6 weeks to carry out the assignment.

Speaking on behalf of other members, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Ashaolu Taiwo of Obafemi Awolowo University appreciated Governor Adeleke for the trust reposed in them.

He promised that the Committee will do the job diligently within the given period, promising that they will not dash the expectation of both the government and Osun people.

The Committee members are: Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, Prof. Lukeman Jumoda, Prof. David Oladeji, Prof. Dayo Akintayo, Prof. (Mrs) Adefunke, Dr. Mutalib Akanmu, Hon. Bamidele Salam, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Justice.

Gov. Adeleke charges Osun in diaspora to establish companies in the State

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has charged the citizens of the State in the diaspora to return home to establish companies so as to jointly develop the State.

Governor Adeleke gave the charge today during the official commissioning of Blue Crescent Limited, Ede.

The Governor who was very enthusiastic commended the CEO of the company for taking a bold step to establish the company in his home land.

He noted that the company will provide employment opportunities for the people, especially the teeming youths.

” I like development at all levels and this is why I have taken it upon myself to ensure that Osun is well developed infrastructurally and, I promised not to disappoint you.

” I want to charge you to embark on quality wares which can stand the test of time.

” I am very proud of you because, there are lots of Ede citizens in the diaspora who are making it but forget to establish companies in their homestead in order to give back to the society. Whatever God has given us, it is good to remember our homeland because, no matter how long we stay away, we will surely come back home,he stated.

Governor Adeleke urged the people of Osun to always pray for him to succeed in office.

In his Royal speech, the Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal thanked the CEO for the business opportunity brought to Ede. He enjoined the people of the ancient town and Osun at large to support the Company to grow.

Oba Lawal further urged the Staff of the Company to cooperate with the CEO so as to ensure the sustainability of the establishment.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Cheif Executive Officer of the Company, Mr. Adedokun Kolapo appreciated Governor Adeleke for gracing the occasion. He explained that the Company was established to promote business opportunity and create jobs for people of Ede and its environs.

Osun Governor, Senator Adeleke inaugurates Revenue, Solid Mineral Committees
….. charges them on dedication to their assignments

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke today inaugurated the Committee on Revenue and solid minerals  to see to the affairs of generating revenue into the coffers of the State, and ensure that all activities regarding mining follow due process.

The inauguration ceremony held in Osogbo, the State Capital was attended by the top echelons of  government and political functionaries.

In his remarks, Governor Adeleke charged the committees to be responsive to their duties, stressing that the revenue committee should make sure all the revenue accruing to the State Government are adequately covered and cornerd for common good.

He explained that the Revenue Committee was set up in line with his campaign promises to increase the internally generated revenue of the State.

Mr Governor further reiterated that his goal is to block all leakages in the revenue sector, adding that his administration will never condone a situation whereby government revenues  are siphoned into private purses.

Senator Adeleke also announced  that all Consultants manning  revenue generation were suspended with immediate effect, charging the Committee to review the operation of the Internally Generated Services and submit  recommendation on the modality to increase the IGR of the State by a substantial percentage.

The Governor further urged the Committee on Solid Minerals to ensure recovery and protection of the State solid mineral resources.

Governor Adeleke signified his intention to beam a searchlight on minerals sector, especially the activities of Segilola and other similar Companies operating in Osun. He therefore called  the attention of all and sundry to the Osun State law  which stipulates that the State is entitled to  30% of the generated income  on gold extraction.

He explained further, ” Segilola and other operating Companies are by law to pay 30% renumeration on mining of gold and other Solid Minerals produced in the State in the last 25 years.

” The State has no record of any payment by Segilola and other related Companies to the State.

” My administration is determined to recover every penny owned Osun by any Company operating in the State.

” We are conducting an audit in the mining sector. Therefore, all illegal mining activities must stop immediately,as  all illegal miners and their syndicates will be arrested and prosecuted.

” The Committees are expected to report back to me within the next two weeks.”, he concluded.

Responding on behalf of other Committee members, the Chairman, Committee on Solid Minerals, Mr Samuel Oyedokun appreciated the Governor for the opportunity given  them to serve.

He promised that the Committee will deliver to expectation, advancing that God has blessed the State with resources which can be tapped to increase it’s IGR.
