The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has felicitated the Wazeerul Mumineen of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Sheikh Abdullateef Adekilekun on his 80th birthday.

In a congratulatory message issued by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described Sheikh Adekilekun as one of the rare gifts of Allah bequeathed to mankind.

The Governor noted that “as a revered leader of Muslims in the Southwest, including Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Edo, and Delta States, Alhaji Lateef Adekilekun’s dedication to Islamic scholarship and community development is truly commendable.

“His involvement in the Adabiya Islamic school in Ilorin and his role in the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies have made a lasting impact. Apart from his historical/oratory gift, Sheikh Abdullateef has published many books and lectured for over 30 years”.

The Governor noted that His contributions to the translation of the Quran into Yoruba language is a remarkable achievement that is worth celebrating for any Muslim in Yorubaland, promoting understanding and appreciation of Islamic teachings among Yoruba-speaking communities.

Sheikh Abdullateef graduated from Cairo University, Egypt in 1972 and has served in various capacities including Vice Chairman and Chairman Caretaker Committee of the old Ede Local Government in 1996, the current Grand-Mufti of Edeland and head of the Adekilekun Dynasty of Ede.

The statement therefore prayed for Alhaji Abdullateef Adekilekun’s continued good health, wisdom, and guidance. “May his birthday mark a new chapter of blessings, joy, and fulfillment”.

The Governor implored the octogenarian, who is also the Mufti of Edeland not to despair in his Islamic dawah for the advancement of Muslims and Islam in Nigeria and Yorubaland in particular.

Signed:
Mallam Olawale Rasheed
Spokesperson to Osun State Governor
