Osun Government plans Alternative Power-supply for Reality Radio-Vision Services, Iwo

OSOGBO– 11/03/2026– Osunstate.gov.ng

In the efforts to address the persistent epileptic power supply affecting the delivery of its services, the Osun State government has reiterated the efforts of its administration to implement the usage of alternative power supply for the state owned broadcasting station, Reality Radio-Vision Services (RTS), in Iwo

In a statement by the Board Chairman of the Osun Broadcasting Corporation, Hon Mayowa Oloso, said the State Broadcasting Corporation, is committed to delivering reliable broadcasting services to its audience but its challenged with epileptic power supply which the government is fully committed to addressing.

“Reality Radio-Vision station is one of the stations that enjoyed the magnanimity of the present Governor, Senator Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke with procurement of two digital transmitters and two production studios

“The Reality Radio Service which operates on the frequency of 96.3FM and which forms one of the conglomerate of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, is committed to delivering reliable broadcasting services to its audience.

“However, the station currently faces a major operational challenge due to persistent epileptic power supply, a situation that disrupts broadcasting schedules, affects equipment performance and increases operation costs, thereby limiting the station’s ability to provide consistent service to the public and generate funds.”

While addressing the need for the alternative power supply, clarifications was made on the approach adopted by the management of the broadcasting station for the implementation of the alternative power supply

“The State Government has made several efforts to functionalize the station, part of which were procurement of a brand new 200 KVA/33KV/0.415V transformer, 110 KVA Generator and 50 KVA Generator.

“It therefore, becomes necessary to explore alternative power source. However, funding becomes challenging due to financial crisis facing the Osun State Government in the recent time. The Board of Directors, therefore, in all attempts to put permanent solution to this challenge, looked inward and discovered obsolete scrap materials, the fund of which when sold, could be diverted to providing standard alternative power supply which is Solar Inverter.

” In doing this, and with the consciousness of following due process in line with the Public Service Policy, the Agency of Government saddled with the sole responsibility of managing State Assets, was contacted for possible disposal of the identified items, while necessary machinery was set in motion to see to the disposal of the scrap material with a view to facilitating provision of alternative power supply to Reality Radio Services. This did not also exclude awareness by the Station’s necessary Stakeholders and Indigenes of Iwo town, the host of Reality Radio-Vision Services.

“Instead of folding arms to allow Reality Radio Services waste away with multi million naira equipment provided by the Adeleke led administration for the enjoyment of the public, due to epileptic power supply, rusted and obsolete scrap materials would rather be converted to source of fund to provide alternative power supply to sustain the station.”

Signed:
Hon. Mayowa Oloso,
Chairman, Board of Directors, OSBC.
