Donation of Security Vehicles by Yes/No LG Chairmen to Osun Police Is A Malevolent, Poisoned Chalice —OSSG warns.

… Reiterates commitment by Gov. Adeleke to support Osun State Command of Nigeria Police and other security agencies.

OSOGBO – 03/04/2026 – osungov.ng.com

The Osun State Government has condemned in strong terms the alleged politicisation of security matters in the state levelled against it by the opposition party, APC over the planned donations of security vehicles by the court sacked Yes/No chairmen to the Osun Command of Nigeria Police.

The rebuttal to that effect came to the fore via a press statement issued by the state commissioner for information and public enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, in which he emphasized that, the protection of lives and property remains one of the top priorities of a responsibly responsive government of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osun.

Government therefore described the security vehicles to be given to the Osun State Police Command by the court sacked Yes/No Chairmen in the state as a poisoned gift with malicious, mischievous and harmful intentions which the police should reject so as to insulate its hard earned integrity and reputation as a law enforcement agency from being compromised.

According to the government, donation of operational vehicles to the police by the court sacked APC Chairmen in the various council areas may look like an honour or advantage to the police but in actual fact, it is a political bait designed by the malicious opposition party via their illegal Chairmen to bring to the police harm, disreputable and severe trouble today and in the future .

The statement further reads
“The so called APC council executives, who illegally imposed themselves on our LGs without any legal basis, due to outright disregard to the rule of law, are not and should not be seen and regarded by right thinking members of the public to provide support to security agencies in combating crime in our dear state.

“It is a big let down and an incoherently befuddled shenanigan of the highest milieu that illegal occupants of a system not known to law would sheepishly and shamelessly go about pretending to strengthen security operations in a state like Osun, all in a futile attempt to legalise their on-going illegalities in the Osun third tier of Governance as currently being perpetrated by criminally minded APC Yes/ No Chairmen.

“It must be emphasized that the issue of their tenure is already a subject of litigation, which they themselves have acknowledged by being the first to go to court to seek tenure validation. The judgement in their tenure elongation suit is already fixed for 21st May, 2026.

“Yes/No L.G Chairmen’s reckless disobedience to court order, it must be stressed, led to a contempt of court proceedings which ruling is also coming up on 12 May, 2026.

“As a government, we fault APC’s mischief in saying that the effort to give security vehicles to the Osun State Command of Nigeria Police should not be subjected to political disagreements but collaborative efforts . This is a mischief aimed at cajoling the innocent but already well informed and well alerted members of the public who already are aware of daily malfeasances of Osun opposition APC.

“As a government we urge the opposition party alongside their leaders who are known to be political desperados to maintain restraint in all their acts as members of the public are no longer being easily swayed and hoodwinked by their desperate shenanigans in vilifying and condemning a performing administration of Ademola Adeleke stuff.

“We therefore advise and implore Osun State Police Command against accepting such a Greek Gift branded as security vehicle donations from the already court-sacked council chairmen of the All Progressives Congress.

“At this juncture,as a government, we are quick to tell the police to note that such donations, if eventually collected, should be regarded as proceeds of criminal enterprise that may implicate the police, if not now but in a no distant future. This is because the funds used in procuring the so called security vehicles were parts of the already diverted and hijacked proceeds from several billions of Naira Osun local government funds meant for the duly elected and legally recognized local government Chairmen of Ademola Adeleke administration.

“While we recognize the fact that, security is everybody’s business but it goes with exception that police should not collect gift from criminals or “Is the Osun Command of Nigeria Police, therefore, saying that if, peradventure, armed robbers gather as one group of criminals to gift them proceeds from a loot of a robbery operation, which is likened to the case of Osun APC Yes/No Chairmen, would the police accept such as lawfully given gifts? Or would the police accept gifts from drug barons or kidnappers? This is what APC Chairmen are currently doing as they shamelessly and criminally latch on funds which are meant for the development of the entire Osun in carrying out projects, paying salaries, allowances, and other developmental projects at the third tiers of Osun Government.

“We are kindly and respectfully calling on the Osun Commissioner of Police to please maintain and uphold the integrity of police as an institution that is above board .

“We are also using this rebuttal as a government that is responsible and sincere to appeal to the police to await the ruling of both May 12 and May 21,2026 which will resolve the criminal usurpation of the Councils by these illegal APC Chairmen once and for all.

“We particularly call on the Inspector-General of Police to intervene by calling on his men in Osun Command to outrightly reject this Greek Gifts from the outlawed APC Yes/No LG Chairmen in order not to compromise the police service through illegal donations derived from criminal conduct of the charlatans masquerading as illegal Executives in our various Councils.

“Finally, as a government, we reiterate our commitment and resolve to continue to assist the police in carrying out all its constitutionally assigned functions and responsibilities in maintaining law and order .

“However, be wary of such malevolently beautifully decorated Greek Gifts from Osun Yes/No APC Chairmen.

Signed:
Oluomo Kolapo Alimi,
Hon. Commissioner, Information and Public Enlightenment.
