Final Day of Voter Registration: Osun Residents Urged to Reject Fear, Claim Their Voting Power.

OSOGBO – 17/04/2026– osunstate.gov.ng

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has urged all eligible residents who are yet to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the final day of the ongoing voter registration exercise, which ends this Saturday.

He described voter registration as the foundation of democratic participation, stressing that every eligible citizen must act now to secure their right to vote.

The statement called on youths, women, first-time voters, and all qualified citizens across the state to troop out in large numbers to designated registration centres, noting that this is the last opportunity to be part of the electoral process ahead of forthcoming elections.

The Governor also cautioned residents against what it described as “deliberate fear-mongering by desperate political actors” who seek to discourage participation by spreading false claims that votes will not count or that outcomes are already predetermined.

“It is important to state clearly that such narratives are nothing but attempts to weaken the will of the people. Osun voters are enlightened, courageous, and fully aware that the power to decide leadership rests with them,” the statement said.

Reassuring citizens, the government emphasized that every valid vote remains a powerful expression of the people’s will, and that no amount of intimidation or propaganda can override the collective decision of a determined electorate.

“Those who talk of ‘federal might’ are merely projecting their own desperation. Democracy is not dictated by noise or threats, but by the ballots cast by the people. In Osun, the people’s vote will prevail accordingly,” the statement added.

His Excellency further encouraged community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders to mobilise residents at the grassroots, ensuring that no eligible voter is left behind in this critical civic exercise.

Reiterating its commitment to credible democratic processes and inclusive governance, the state government urged residents to remain peaceful, orderly, and focused as they complete their registration.

“Your vote is your power. Your PVC is your voice. Do not surrender it to fear, doubt, or deception. Step out this Saturday, get registered, and be ready to defend democracy,” the statement concluded.
