Governor Adeleke Hails Ijeshas on Hall of Fame, Advances Ijesa Development Agenda.

● Owa Obokun Threatens Harsh Sanctions Against Political Violence

OSOGBO – 05/04/2026 – Osunstate.gov.ng

Governor Ademola Adeleke has described the Ijesha people as an enterprising race with huge records of accomplishments across local, national and international spaces, hailing the unveiling of Ijesha Hall of Fame as a landmark initiative.

The governor who attended the event alongside members of the state executive council said the initiative from His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup confirmed the suitability of the Royal father as a 21st century king who is well equipped to take Ijeshaland and Osun state to new height, both economically, politically and socially.

Professing his love for Ijesa people and his long term relationship with the former and present royal fathers, the governor said his administration is attending to the developmental needs of Ijesha people through infrastructural provision and transformation of Ilesa to a University town.

Governor Adeleke recalled his intimate relationship with late Oba Adekunle Aromolaran and his childhood and growing – up relationship with Oba Haastrup, commending the monarch as “a torchbearer of modernity and innovation in traditional governance.

“My love for fast tracked Ijesa development tallies with the emergence of a king with local, national and international contacts and connections. We have a strong development partner in the palace of Owa Obokun. I am building on the opportunities provided by this forward looking royal father.

“I transformed the University of Ilesa into reality. I appointed Ijesa sons as both the chairman of the Governing board and Vice Chancellor of the University. We got 95 courses accredited and we have embarked on reconstruction of internal infrastructures. We will soon commission Palace – brewery junction dual carriageway.

The governor however urged Ijesa sons and daughters to redeem their pledges to support the development of the university, calling attention to the need to expand ongoing infrastructure and academic needs of the university.

Speaking earlier, the Owa Obokun Adimula warned against political violence among political parties ahead of forthcoming state and national elections, vowing that sponsors of thuggery and violence will be dealt with according to tradition and legal stipulations.

The monarch who lamented recent loss of lives across Ijeshaland said the palace will no longer fold its arms and allow further bloodbath, tasking political leaders to call their rank and file to order.

The Royal fathers specifically warned that culprits and their families who are engaged in political violence face likely banishment and ostracisation from Ijeshaland.

“We will apply the law and tradition to punish sponsors of political violence. Enough is enough”, the royal father warned.

The Hall of Fame is designed by the Owa palace to honour and immortalise Ijesha sons and daughters who contributed to the development of Ijeshaland.
