Governor Adeleke, Ajibola Bashiru Preaches Politics without Bitterness.

OSOGBO – 30/06/2026 – osunstate.gov.ng

Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on politicians and members of the political class to play politics without bitterness, asserting that politics should be a game for public peace and good governance.

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Senator Ajibola Bashiru echoed similar sentiments when he advocated that political differences should not destroy human and family relationships.

The event was the condolence visit by Governor Ademola Adeleke to the APC National Secretary over the transition to eternal glory of his mother.

The governor who was accompanied by the House Speaker, Rt Hon. Adewale Egbedun and other members of the State Executive Council said politicians should play the game according to the rule and within the context of peace and security of the state and residents.

“Politics should not be a do or die affair. Shedding blood is no longer politics; we must protect people we seek to govern. We should be peaceful in our campaigns. Issue based campaign is what we need.

“I was once in the APC with some members of my family. We just received so many defectors into the Accord from APC. Why should brothers become enemies because of politics? It is wrong. Violence should never be on the table.

“I am here sympathistise with my brother, Dr Bashiru on the exit of our mother. We are all one family. Politics should unite, rather than divide us”, the governor posited.

Responding, Dr Bashiru appreciated the condolence visit and described it as a strong show of mutual love and affection that transcends political affiliation, commending the governor for his show of maturity and tolerance.

“We are all the same despite political affiliation. I look round the people who accompany Mr Governor; we have all been together in one camp or the other in the recent past. We are friends; we are families.

“I have received so many guests across party lines. That is how it should be. At Ibadan, Governor Makinde provided protocol support for top leaders and Governors who came visiting. That is how it should be.

“I support politics without bitterness and I thank the state government for identifying with my family in this trying period”, the APC National Secretary noted .
