OSOGBO– 25/02/2026– Osunstate.gov.ng

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has congratulated Mr Olatunji Rilwan Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force by President Bola Tinubu, hailing the choice of the new police chief as a strong pointer to better and fair policing.

Governor Adeleke notes Mr Disu’s firm commitment to responsibilities, which are reflective in the works put into safeguarding Nigerians over the years, expressing faith in his deep respect for the rule of law to guide the Nigeria Police Force to effectively serve its core mandate.

While maintaining strong hope in Mr Disu’s deep experience in policing, which stretches across all zones in the country, Governor Adeleke tasked the new police chief to uphold professionalism and insulate the force from political influence and partisanship to restore the confidence of Nigerians in the discharge of its constitutional role.

“I rejoice with Mr Olatunji Rilwan Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force by President Bola Tinubu. Mr Disu is an outstanding professional, devoting most part of his life to the security of citizens,” Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying in a congratulatory message.

“Having Mr Disu as the head of the country’s Police is quite a masterstroke, giving his deep knowledge about most parts of Nigeria as only a few policemen have had the privilege of serving in all the six zones of the country.

“Even more, Mr Disu is widely believed to be strict with the law and testimonies of Nigerians about him so far showed that he will make a good Police chief, winning back the trust of Nigerians for the Force.”

Governor Adeleke went on to welcome the assurance by President Tinubu to ensure the establishment of State Police to solidify the country’s security architecture, noting that with State Police, sub-nationals will be more empowered to tackle insecurities within their respective domains and make it impossible for them to become a national nightmare.

“I am more than elated about the resolve of President Bola Tinubu, which was again re-echoed during a recent meeting with Governors, on the creation of State Police.

“With State Police, State Government will have the means to put out the fire of insecurity before it go wild, and I must commend President Tinubu for his decision to go through with this laudable move,” he said.

He pledged his administration’s commitment to make Osun safe and secure for people and business, pointing out that beyond support for conventional security agencies, his government has recruited over 1,500 personnel into Amotekun among other supports in order to strengthen them to complement the Police and other security outfits in securing Osun people.
