Stop Inciting Town Against Other, Your Intention Is Evil; Governor Adeleke’s Spokesperson Warns Adeoye Adelakun.

OSOGBO – 05/03/2026 – osunstate.gov.ng

The Spokesperson to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has condemned a reckless and divisive statement made by an Osogbo-born APC chieftain, Adeoye Adelakun, in which he attempted to incite the good people of Osogbo against their brothers and sisters in Ede. Mallam Olawale Rasheed condemned the statement and describe the intention of Adelakun has evil intending to score cheap political gain.

He said “Ordinarily, such a baseless and politically motivated comment would not deserve any response, but the dangerous undertone of deliberately pitching one town against another compels us to set the record straight and caution against this destructive narrative”.

“First, Governor Ademola Adeleke remains a Governor for all citizens and communities across Osun State, irrespective of political affiliation, town of origin, or ethnic sentiments. Since assuming office, the Governor has demonstrated through policies, appointments, and developmental projects that his administration is built on fairness, inclusiveness, and unity among all towns and communities in the state”.

“It is therefore unfortunate that Hon. Adeoye Adelakun would resort to promoting an imaginary rivalry between Osogbo and Ede merely to score cheap political points. Such a narrative is not only false but also capable of creating unnecessary tension among peace-loving people who have coexisted for generations”.

“The Adeleke-led administration has never, at any time, adopted a policy of division or political manipulation of towns. The suggestion that the Governor or leaders within the PDP/Accord alliance are making conflicting promises about future governorship tickets to different towns exists only in the imagination of those who have chosen misinformation as their political strategy”.

“For us, we believe that politics should never be reduced to the dangerous game of turning communities against one another. Osogbo and Ede share deep historical, cultural, and social bonds, and no responsible leader should attempt to poison that relationship for political gain”.

“The people of Osogbo are enlightened enough to know that Governor Ademola Adeleke has shown love, respect, and commitment to the development of the state capital and every other part of Osun State through various ongoing projects and inclusive governance”.

Mallam Olawale Rasheed therefore warn Hon. Adeoye Adelakun to desist from spreading narratives capable of disrupting the peaceful coexistence among communities in Osun State. Leadership demands responsibility, not reckless statements that could incite unnecessary distrust among our people.

Osun State belongs to all of us, and no individual or group should attempt to divide our people along town lines for selfish political purposes. Unity, peace, and development remain the guiding principles of the Adeleke administration.

Signed:
Mallam Olawale Rasheed,
Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor.
