Osun Promises Better Deal For Rural Women

When women groups endorsed Aregbesola for second term
Osun State Government has reiterated its total commitment towards the promotion of women in the state, saying, efforts are in the pipeline to grant loan to 18,ooo women across all local governments, as part of efforts to alleviate poverty and unemployment to the barest minimum.
The State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, stated this at his investiture as the Grand-Patron of the State Community Development Council (CDC), held at Nelson Mandela Park in Osogbo the state capital on Tuesday.
The governor, who noted that arrangements were in top gear to increase annual state government grant to community self-help projects, also promised to organise several programmes to sensitise members of the CDC on their roles in building a virile state.
He enjoined members of the CDC to do all at their disposal by joining Government towards wagging war against thuggery and all acts capable of causing breakdown of law and order especially as We move towards election period.
The governor said his administration believed very strongly that community development councils could be made more vibrant to serve the state better, saying that was the reason he facilitated the election of new executives into all offices of development council from the village to the state level.
Mr Aregbesola said as grass roots mobilizers, they are to ensure the formation of more communities into the CDAs and mobilise the various communities to embark on viable self-help projects to complement government’s efforts.
