Gov. Adeleke Eulogises Obasanjo at 88, Describes Him as Father of All.

PRESS RELEASE

OSOGBO – 05/03/2025 – Osunstate.gov.ng

Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke has eulogised former President Olusegun Obasanjo as he celebrates his 88th birthday.

Senator Adeleke described the former President as a true and one of the most patriotic Nigerian leaders who did their best and has continued to work for the development of not just Nigeria and Africa but global peace and development.

Senator Adeleke gave the eulogies during his remark today at the 88th birthday celebrations of the elder statesman at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Governor commended Baba Obasanjo for his undeniable belief in democracy which he said was evident in his handover of power to a democratically elected government as a military Head of State in 1979.

The Governor said the revolution brought about by Chief Obasanjo while in office as President between 1999 and 2007 as a democratically elected president in key sectors are foundation upon which subsequent administrations are building.

“I want to thank God for giving Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to the world as a gift and peace ambassador. He did so many things to change the hitherto bad narratives of the country by laying solid foundations while in the saddle”. The Governor told the gathering.

He reminded the gathering of the global audience present at the 3-in-1 event that Baba Obasanjo laid the foundation that is currently being enjoyed in the telecommunication industry by introducing the Global System of Mobile Telecommunications GSM which is now the bedrock of virtual businesses and corporate governance.

Senator Adeleke while thanking the ex-president for his love and belief in the Osun State Government under his leadership, Governor Adeleke told the gathering that Osun has reclaimed its position as the most peaceful state in Nigeria by following Chief Obasanjo’s advice to stick to the rule of law and not give in to the antics of the dark forces who were doing all within their reach to make the state unsafe.

The event that witnessed the presentation of two books and a lecture had Governor Adeleke and other dignitaries coming together to celebrate the octogenarian.
