Osun L.G funds; Magistrate court issues bench warrant against UBA, three senior staff.

…adjourns further hearing for 10th of February,2026.

0SOGBO – 30/01/2026

Sequel to the complaint received from the Local Government Chairmen, in Osun state, by the Osun State Attorney General that unauthorized accounts have been opened for the Osun state LGs allocation, so as to allow the authorized persons to operate and maintain the accounts, in the United Bank for Africa (UBA). Consequently, the Osun state AG filed charge no: MOS/601C/2025 against the UBA and its three officials before an Osogbo magistrate Court.

Recall that following the local Government imbroglio deliberately created by Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola with the conduct of a kangaroo election at the twilight of his administration which was eventually nullified by the Federal High Court Osogbo. Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy has been collaborating with some Federal agencies to continue to cause chaos in the Osun state local government administration.

The Charge filed against the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc and three of its top Executive Officers, Mr Oliver Alawura (Group Managing Director, UBA) Mr Billy Odura,(Group Legal Adviser,UBA )and Chukwuma Nweke ( Deputy Managing Director,UBA) is alleging the Bank of allowing the opening and operating illegal accounts for Osun state local governments.

Reacting to the issuance of the bench warrant by the Chief Magistrate Court Osogbo, today, Friday, 30th January, 2026, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi in a statement said the matter revolves around the control of local government funds, with the Osun State Government insisting that the court sacked All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen are not and should not in any way or manner, lay claim to the legitimate occupation of all Council Areas in Osun State as being illegitimately done currently by the opposition APC in the state.

Alimi however expressed conviction in the ability of the court to carry out its constitutionally assigned duties and responsibilities without fear or favour while the matter lasted.

Further hearing of the matter has been fixed for the 10th of February, 2026.

E- Signed:
Oluomo Kolapo Alimi,
Hon.Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment.
