The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Chairman of the Osun State Board for Vocational and Technical Education, Alhaji Fatai Diekola, describing the death of the prominent political figure as a collosal loss.

Governor Adeleke who said he was deeply touched by the demise of Alhaji Diekola, said the late Osogbo-born politician spent his life fighting against injustice in the society and was a source of strength for the weak.

The Governor who extends heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of Alhaji Diekola, political associates and Osogbo people, said the Imole movement has lost a strong pillar of support.

“I’m disheartened to learn about the unfortunate passing of the Chairman of the Osun State Board for Vocational and Technical Education, Alhaji Fatai Diekola, at the age of 69. While he was alive, Alhaji Diekola helped shape our political environment with his strong conviction for what is right and the courage to stand by the weak,” Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying in a condolences message.

“Alhaji Diekola was my major political ally and facilitators, a man who mobilised and broke walls of political resistance. We were in the trenches together to enthrone this people’s government. He always insisted we must serve no other interests except the aspirations of Osun people”, the governor was quoted as saying.

“He was a great source of support in the journey to salvage our dear state from the abyss of ruins. The pains of his death is quite excruciating, not just because of the personal connection, but the fact that Osun has lost one of its fearless and committed politicians.

“On behalf of the good people of Osun State, I convey my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Ataoja of Osogboland, political associates, the people of Osogboland and everyone impacted by this devastating loss.”

Governor Adeleke prays to Almighty Allah to repose his soul and grant his family, kin, associates and everyone touched by his passing the fortitude to bear the pain of the loss, adding that “it is my sincere hope that his good works will live beyond him and that the memories of his impacts lingers for generations.”
