OSOGBO – 01/04/2025 – osunstate.gov.ng

Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on Osun citizens and residents at home and abroad to embrace developmental politics as a platform for unity and partnership for state development.

He made the appeal today while receiving members of Osun Leaders of Thoughts and other prominent state opinion leaders who visited him in celebration of 2025 Eid-El-Fitr.

The Governor who recalled his non-partisan approach to governance since assumption of office in November 2022, said his agenda is about all round, comprehensive development of Osun state without minding partisan affiliations.

Describing his embrace of developmental politics as a passion for public service, Governor Adeleke noted that political power should be used to positively touch the lives of the people, adding, “impacting on our people and state are my focus and preoccupation.

“From 2022 to date, I govern with the interest of our people at heart. I retained contractors inherited from my predecessor. I did not abandon projects inherited from past governments. I already completed many of them.

“I don’t look at your political affiliations; I think of your capacity to do the job. When projects are to be sited, I care less about what party beneficiaries are aligned with. I was just told that our administration has tarred the road that passes through the house of the APC National Secretary, here in Osogbo.

“Our administration targets development of infrastructure, of our people, of sons and daughters of Osun state. That is what I called politics- bringing positive changes to residents and citizens”, the Governor was quoted as saying.

The State Governor appealed to the leaders of thought and citizens who visited him from Sunday to Monday at the Government House to preach developmental politics and advocate against politics of hatred and retrogression.

“I urge you to reach out to our people at home and abroad. We must support any administration that is making a difference in the lives of our people and state. That is the only way we can take our state to greater heights.

“Our administration has fulfilled its electoral promises. We have performed exceptionally well just two years plus four or so months into our tenure. We have proved our loyalty to our oath of office to serve only the best interest of our people.

“We have earned the trust and loyalty of the population. Our government has shown that it is possible to deliver good things in life as quickly as possible. We therefore solicit for continued support of our people to complete all the great projects and programmes we are working on.

“On behalf of Our government, I assure you and our people at home that I won’t be distracted in service delivery and good governance. I will continue to deliver on my mandate so that when I return to the people next year, I will get their nod again”, the Governor told the various delegations.

Ifon-Ilobu-Erin communal Clash: Kolapo Alimi Denies Sending Fake Soldiers to Ilobu,

-Seeks public apology from Tairu Babatunde, PRO, Ilobu Descendant Union, for malicious publication

-Sympathises with victims, calls for calm, peace in the three warring communities

OSOGBO-24/03/2025
osunstate.gov..ng

While the current situation happening between Ifon-Ilobu-Erin Osun is sad, condemnable and avoidable, every right thinking person in the affected communities ought to strive for the avoidance of the carnage.

The killings and destructions in the concerned communities are uncalled for because we are brothers and sisters .We have an age long relationship of inter marriages. This brotherhood and sisterhood is what we should promote as opposed to killing and maiming of ourselves .It is despicable and uncalled for.

More unfortunate is the politicization of the conflicts, by using the conflicts to blackmail my humble self by some political jobbers hiding under the name of the conflicts.

It started about a year ago when the conflicts between Ifon and Ilobu escalated. Quickly, some politicians from the opposition in Ilobu, hiding under the name of fighting for Ilobu interest started blackmailing Oluomo Kolapo Alimi as the one supporting Ifon against Ilobu. These baseless allegations reverberate throughout the length and breadth of Ilobu.
It took Kolapo Alimi several efforts to disabuse the mind of right thinking people of Ilobu about these allegations.

The situation became worse now that Erin is involved, they reinvented their false claims that Alimi brought fake Soldiers to Ilobu.

Before I delve into the issues, let’s inform those that might not know or remind those that have forgotten the contributions of Kolapo Alimi to the Development of Ilobu.

My humble self, Kolapo Alimi , as a young boy, had a spell of almost ten years as a teacher in Ilobu Grammar School,Ilobu. I had a record of hard work which impacted positively on many Ilobu indigenes who are today doing well in their different areas of specialisation.

Thereafter, when I ventured into public service as a politician and eventually, a Commissioner, I, Kolapo Alimi appointed an Ilobu indigene as my Personal Assistant, (an unprecedented step in our political development in our areas). In addition, I have records of facilitating the employment of many Ilobu indigenes into Local Govts, Lautech (now Uniosun teaching hospital) and Civil Defence among other key offices in various establishments in Osun and beyond.

With all humility and modesty , I make bold to say that, I have assisted many Ilobu indigenes despite the fact that I am not an indigene of the town.
On politics, I stood firmly with Honourable Nasiru Olateju, an Ilobu indigene to become the member representing Irepodun/Orolu state constituency, in 2019. Let me stop at that for now.

It is then quite surprising and astonishing that some people will deliberately be out as a result of mischief and other reasons, particularly politics, to malign my person and integrity.

An example of such was a blackmail and malicious press release authored by one Tairu Babatunde, the Public Relations Officer of Ilobu Descendant Union (IDU) in which he alleged that I sent fake soldiers to Ilobu to carry out killings. This is a lie taken to the extreme of great mischief.

Ordinarily,I wouldn’t have responded the way I am currently doing because, anybody holding a public position, more so, who is into politics, should from time to time expect such backlashes from the political opponents.

However, in the instant case, the false narration is from, Ilobu Descendants Union, (ICU).
As we all know,Ilobu Descendant Union( I.D.U) is an umbrella body of all sons and daughters of Ilobu at home and diaspora. It is a very responsible and reliable organization.

If anybody, therefore, representing such a Union should write something of that magnitude, it should not be dismissed with a wave of hands as unimportant, hence the need to respond accordingly and appropriately the way I am doing using this medium.

The claim by Tairu Babatunde on behalf of IDU that I came with fake soldiers to Ilobu and ordered that people be shot, like I earlier said, is a big lie with no iota of truth in its entirety. I challenge the author to come out openly to substantiate it.

If we could recall, the current escalation of the crisis occurred around Thursday, by Friday morning, the Governor directed that the security meeting be held to take drastic steps to curb the situation. It was at that meeting that the need to declare curfew among other security measures were taken. And it was limited to Ifon and Ifon because the crisis then was between Ifon and Ilobu. Those in attendance at that meeting were, the Army, the police, the DSS, The Civic Defense and the Immigration.

On Friday night, around 11:30 pm, some people laid siege overnight in my house and there were gun shots here and there throughout the night . To avoid any bloodshed, I didn’t allow any of my security details to respond . The people that heard the gunshots on realizing that my house was under attack raised an alarm which eventually got to the attention of the special Adviser to the Governor on security matters who
accordingly called for reinforcement from security Chiefs . It was the combined team of police and civil Defense Corps that rescued me from my Erin Osun house to Osogbo with members of my family.

There was nothing like fake police/soldiers as erroneously claimed in the write up by Tairu Babatunde .In fact, there was even no need for it.

I want to state again and again, that I, Kolapo Alimi, with all honesty, did not ask any police or other security personnel to shoot or kill anybody at Ilobu or anywhere whatsoever as falsely written by Tairu Babatunde in his press statement being currently circulated in the social media.

It must be stated that the level of destruction in the three towns is not and should not be something somebody reasonably should be happy about or proud of.

On the issue of the imposition of curfew, this is the true story as against the lie fabricated again by Tairu Babatunde, the PRO of Ilobu Descendant Union( I.D.U), as I have stated above earlier, the initial curfew earlier declared by the Osun state government was between Ifon and Ilobu because the crisis at that time was between the two towns only. If we recall, the curfew was reviewed about three weeks ago when Ramadan started and the curfew was imposed on Ifon and Ilobu because the crisis was between the two communities.

To say that I was instrumental to the imposition of curfew on only Ifon and Ilobu with the exclusion of my Erin Osun where I hail from, as alleged by Tairu Babatunde in his press statement was another malicious blackmail which holds no iota of truth.

I have come to realize that some people are just out to cause problems. This is bad and unfortunate.

In conclusion, the effect of what Tairu Babatunde wrote has actually put my life and that of the members of my family in danger as many people believe that the write up emanated from Ilobu Descendant Union.( IDU)

To this end, I, Kolapo Alimi, is demanding an immediate public apology from Tairu Babatunde whose thought I strongly believe does not represent the thought of Ilobu Descendant Union ( IDU), for the false accusation .

Anything short of an apology will make the matter a subject of thorough investigation by the law enforcement agencies.

Signed:
Oluomo Kolapo Alimi
Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment,
Osun state.

OSOGBO -20/10/2024 – osunstate.gov.ng

Osun State Government has again debunked fake news being peddled by the opposition alleging that Governor Ademola Adeleke is collecting security votes, asserting once again that the Governor is not, has and will not collect security votes in line with his avowed declaration on assumption of office.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi made the clarification in a statement on Sunday, explaining that the opposition is spreading falsehood because it has no hole to pick in the superlative performance of the state governor.

According to the Commissioner, the opposition is either ignorant or mischievous by deliberately misinterpreting state spending to support security operations and services by security agencies such as the police, Department of State Services among others.

“The state government statutorily supports security agencies when they conduct security operations on a regular basis such as quelling communal violence, joint security operations in troubled spots as well as deployment during mass demonstrations.

“Such expenditures are formally accounted for in line with the due approval process. The state support in such situations are referred to as expenditure for security services as different from the concept of security vote which does not pass through formal due approval process.

“The opposition needs to be educated that there are differences between security votes and security services. Security votes are widely known as slush funds expended at the discretion of the Chief Executive without passing through formal accountability and due processes.

“In Osun state, Governor Adeleke is not, has not and will not take such security votes. Mr Governor is however committed to supporting the security agencies with their logistics needs under security services expenditure which are fully applied for and processed through the office of Special Adviser to the Governor on Security matters.

The present administration in Osun State therefore wishes to state, emphatically that, Governor Adeleke approves funds to address security issues only when occasion demands for such and there are always record to justify such expenditure as opposed to being latched on as a free money to be expended at will by any sitting Governor as was the tradition with the past administration.

It must be stated that in his almost two years old administration, Mr Governor’s probity and accountability is remarkably unbeatable in the history of Osun State and by extension, in the Nigerian federation.

While the present administration wishes to state for the umpteenth time, that it is not averse to being criticized constructively when the need arises by the right and unbiased free minded members of the public, it is however, incongruent for a person or group of persons to throw cautions to the wind in going about it as exemplified by some opposition operatives.

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke, today distributed N250 million (N250,000,000) in microcredit cheques to various beneficiaries across the state at the foundation-laying ceremony of the Osun Micro Credit Agency’s office complex. The event took place at the agency’s permanent site in Oranmiyan New Town, behind the State Secretariat, Abeere, Osun State.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, the Governor emphasized the importance of the occasion, describing it as a “new chapter” for the agency, which has been instrumental in providing accessible credit to citizens across the state. The Governor also addressed the long-standing issue of the agency operating from rented premises, calling it unacceptable. He pledged to expedite the completion of the new office complex, assuring that the project would be finished sooner than initially projected. The Medium-Term Sector Strategy (MTSS) had set 2027 as the expected completion date, but Adeleke vowed to fast-track the development using all necessary resources.

“For over a decade, it is disheartening to note that an agency as critical as the Osun Micro Credit Agency has operated from rented premises. This reality is both unacceptable and a reflection of the neglect and complacency we inherited. However, we are here today to rewrite that story and restore hope to this agency and the people it serves,” the Governor stated.

“Our administration is committed to improving the lives of the people of Osun State,” he added, highlighting that the office complex was only one of many projects slated for completion by 2025.

The N250 million funding boost for the Osun Micro Credit Agency includes a N200 million injection into the agency’s working capital, with N50 million specifically allocated for new applicants and beneficiaries. This funding is part of the administration’s broader effort to empower small businesses and drive economic growth in the state.

Addressing the beneficiaries of the microcredit loans, Adeleke urged them to use the funds prudently to grow their businesses and contribute to the state’s economic development. The loans come with favorable repayment terms, offering a 12-month tenor at an annual interest rate of 9%, making it one of the most affordable loan options in the country. The loans are revolving, ensuring that others can access credit as well.

“To the beneficiaries of these funds, I urge you to use the resources wisely to grow your businesses and create lasting value. As you know, these loans are revolving in nature, and timely repayment is essential to ensure others also benefit,” Adeleke stated.

The Governor also encouraged individuals, cooperative groups, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Osun Micro Credit Agency. He assured the people of Osun that his administration is committed to driving the state’s economic growth through these initiatives.

Despite criticism from opposition parties, the Governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue working for the benefit of the people. “The people of Osun have seen the light,” he said, adding that the state’s progress would not be hindered by detractors. He called on the people to continue supporting his government beyond 2026 for sustained growth and development.
