Aregbesola Assures Corps Members In Osun Of Safety

Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps posted to the state of safety.
He said this in Ede on Thursday  at the opening of the swearing-in ceremony of the 2014 batch “B” corps members deployed in the state.
The governor, who was represented at the ceremony, Commissioner for Youths and Special  Needs, Mr. Stephen Kola-Balogun, urged corps members to be responsible citizens while assuring them that the people of the state were ready to assist them.
He said, ” There is no doubt that any society were peace reigns will experience a lot of development. We have not taken the issues of security with levity. That is why we have been able to carry on with a lot of development projects so as to give our people a new lease of life.
” I want to assure you that our people are peace loving, warm and accommodating. So also want to assure you that the welfare and safety of corps members will be given priority.”
The NYSC coordinator in Osun State, Mr. Abada  Okpiroro, explained that orientation of the 2014 Batch “B” corps members ought to have taken place since August but was postponed to September because of the governorship election held in the state on August 9.
He, however, said that the orientation course could not hold again in September due to the Ebola virus disease which was brought into the country.
Okpiroro added that the affected corps members were  just registered and posted to their places of primary assignment.
According to him, the NYSC will adhere strictly to the three week orientation course for the corps members to ensure that they do not miss  out of the programmes lined up for them.
He said, ” At this juncture, I want to enjoin the course participants to conduct themselves in a disciplined manner and abide by the camp rules and regulations and above all, anticipate fully in all the activities in order to have a fulfilling service year.
” The skill acquisition programme will be organised for you and I want to charge  you  to take good advantage of it. The fact remains that white collar jobs are scarce but if you acquire a skill now, it will assists you to take off smoothly after service.”
