Osun Govt. Reiterates Commitment to Workers Training

The present administration has reiterated its commitment to the training and retraining of its workforce in a bid to boost their morale and promote efficiency.
This was stated today by the chairman Local Government Service Commission, Elder Peter Babalola during the opening ceremony of the third phase of the workshop titled “EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP MANAGEMENT IN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION” for Heads of Department of works, Town planing and Agric held at the Local Government Service Commission multipurpose hall.
Elder Babalola maintained that all Heads of Departments at the local government level must contribute their quota by working assiduously for revenue drive and generation in order to cushion governments efforts.
He noted that,the training is designed to enhance participants managerial skills through the exposure to modern management techniques as well as to inculcate in them prudent financial management through adherence to basic rules and regulations.
In his address of welcome,the permanent secretary Local Government Service Commission, Mr Dayo Olaluwoye explained that there Is need for Heads of Department to build their capacities both intellectually and psychologically in order to adequately fit into the process of achieving the present administration’s policy objectives for local Governments.
He emphasised that, the workshop is necessary at this point in time to improve the managerial skills of all Heads of Departments in local governments so that they can fulfill their statutory roles effectively.
Mr Olaluwoye then applauded the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for making the training programme a reality inspite of the present economic crunch.
Also, speaking at the occasion, the Managing Consultant of FIDARET VENTRURE LIMITED, Elder Olufemi Adelowokan stressed that the workshop is expedient to fill the perceived skill gap noticed in the officers as a result of their movement to higher level of responsibility in new Council-Manager system.
He then urged participants to approach the training programme with total commitment so as to derive maximum benefit from it.
