osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke Has Reiterated The Commitment Of His Administration To The Smooth And Effective Take Off Of University Of Ilesa, Osun State.

Senator Adeleke Assured The Visiting Nuc Team That The State Government Will Give All Necessary Support To Facilitate The Smooth Take And Sustainability Of The Young University.

The Governor Described The Vice Chancellor Of University Of Ilesa, Professor Taiwo Asaolu As A Round Peg In A Round Hole Who Was Appointed Based On His Pedigree And Ability To Take The Newly Established Citadel Of Learning To Stardom.

He Solicited The Support Of The Nuc For The Two State Universities, Affirming The Readiness Of His Administration To Provide All Needed Logistics For The Operation Of The New University.

Earlier In His Address, The Executive Secretary Of Nuc, Ambassador Chris Maiyaki Commended Governor Ademola Adeleke For His Nationally Acknowledged Enthusiasm For The Development Of Education And Passionate Commitment To Entrenching Good Governance.

Ambassador Maiyaki Said The Nuc Team Was In The State To Gather First Hand Information On The State Of Preparedness Of The University For Academic Activities Saying That The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu Has Briefed The Commission Adequately About The Uncommon Level Of Support Given To The University By The State Governor.

According To Him, Their Recommendations Will Enable Jamb To Enlist University Of Ilesa As A School Of Choice For Admission Seekers.

He Added That Their Recommendations Will Equally Enable Unilesa To Be Eligible To Draw Necessary Support In Terms Of Grants And Aid From Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Tetfund, And Other Relevant Bodies.

Ambassador Maiyaki While Soliciting The Continued Support Of The Governor For The University In Terms Of Sustainable Funding Lauded The Governor For His Passion For Education And Good Governance Which He Said Has Endeared Him To Millions Of Nigerians Within Osun State And Beyond.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has described the recent appointments of principal officers for the University of Ilesa as part of the fulfillment of his promise to nurture a sustainable tertiary institution for Ijeshaland.

In a statement issued today at Osogbo, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to building a sound footed university which he said informed his approval of a leading academic of international repute, Prof Taiwo Asaolu as the Vice Chancellor of the university.

Commending the applause the new appointments elicited from Ijesha society, the State Governor assured that the many laudable ideas recommended by the eartswhile Asaolu committee are now billed for implementation under the same man who chaired the review panel.

“I am elated that we are keeping faith with the Ijesha people. We are upholding due process, avoiding politicization of the academic environment, correcting errors of the past and fulfilling the decades old dream of Ijesha people.

“I commend the leaders, sons and daughters of Ijeshaland for their patience and acceptance of ongoing decisions of our government. I urge all stakeholders to cooperate with the new Vice Chancellor as he settles down to the urgent task of sustainable take off of the university”, the statement concluded.

The Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, state of Osun, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has canvassed the need to tap from the many inherent potentials of the Nigerian youths to enhance National Development.

Hon Famurewa made this known during a lecture entitled “Rejigging Universal Basic Education for the Development of Youths’ Entreprenurial Skills “delivered at the Second Annual Akeem Kareem Lecture Series held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The Osun SUBEB Boss noted that education is a veritable tool for national development and social integration, which if fully tapped from the root will impact entrepreneurial skills in children.

The former federal law maker however, enjoined the youths in particular to engage themselves in entrepreneurial skills acquisition as opposed to a craze of searching for a white-collar job which he noted are now very difficult to get in Nigeria.

He also enjoined all stakeholders in the country to map out strategies through the creation of an enabling environment to instill in the teaming youths the mulch needed entrepreneurial skills for both personal and national developments.
