Osun Deputy Gov Reads Riot Act To Students: Engage In Unruly Act, Face Suspension

Osun State Deputy Governor, Mrs Grace Titi-Laoye Tomori on Wednesday, 2nd April, 2014, warned secondary school students in the state against destruction of some schools in the state.
The Deputy Governor, who also doubles as the state Commissioner for Education, read this riot act while addressing journalists on Wednesday, 2nd April, 2014, after completing an unscheduled inspection to Baptist High School, Gbodofon, Osogbo and Ataoja Science High School also in Osogbo, southwest Nigeria.
Mrs. Laoye Tomori who expressed displeasure at the rate at which some students have turned themselves to destructive agents by removing recently fixed classroom windows and doors together while constantly destroying desk and chairs in their classrooms, stated that any student caught with any of these ignoble acts will be suspended from school and thoroughly dealt with.
She then advised students in the state especially in the affected schools to distant themselves from all act of destruction, avoid truancy and shun any trace of laziness in school saying they should engage themselves in acts capable of impacting their lives positively and face their studies squarely so as to become worthy citizens in life.
According to her, all the ongoing renovation works in schools will not stop but be completed within a record time saying the ongoing renovation work at Baptist High School, Gbodofon will be completed and delivered within the next two weeks.
The state Commissioner for Education said 3,030 furniture will be provided for 3,000 students in the school with an average of 40 furniture per class to avoid congestion.
Condemning torn uniforms worn by many students, Mrs. Laoye-Tomori appealed to parents to purchase new government approved school uniform for their wards to make them appear neat saying any student caught with tattered uniform will be suspended.
Describing hardwork as the only antidote to success, the state Deputy Governor urged the students to face their studies squarely adding that there is no shortcut to success in life beside hardwork.
