Osun Government Charges Teachers on Punctuality, Dedication and Student Mentorship

Teachers across board have been advised to re-double their efforts, to be punctual and present at work as well as be ready to release facts, develop skills and ideas that have been learned both formally and informally to students, as the new academic school year begins.
The school would be allocating a set of students to a teacher for mentoring as School Father and Mother to ensure that their welfare is taking care of and to be made happy as well based on gender sensitivity while parents are to be friendly with their wards, do away with all forms of streets hawking but making themselves available and
provide for the student needs on time.
These were the submissions of the Chairman, Osun Education Quality Assurance and Morality Enforcement Agency, Dr. Isiaka Ayodele Owoade while speaking with the journalists shortly after a meeting held with the Teachers of Holy Michael and Orimolade High Schools in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State.
He added that, the Osun Education Quality Assurance and Morality Enforcement Agency would be alive to its duties, so as to ensure that all hands are on deck in the educational sector in other to achieve better results. He noted that a lot of follow up / monitoring exercise in collaboration with the Quality Assurance officials shall take place regularly this term.
The Chairman said that, the State Government of Osun has devised a new template to be completed on weekly basis by each teacher in all the schools in the State. He stressed that this is done without any ulterior motive or neither to witch-hunt anybody but mainly to serve as a form of research and evaluation.
Dr Owoade noted that, psychological approach to mentoring and maintaining discipline is on course while urging the teachers to be supportive of the new system, saying that the name of any well behaved teacher, hardworking and dedicated tutor would always be indelible.
He disclosed that, parents who indulge their wards in vocational training while still in school are not helping the
situation but brings additional challenges to the society because it degenerates the students’ and reduce their orientation to the level at the vocational training shop.
In his own remarks, the Executive Secretary, Osun Education Quality Assurance and Morality Enforcement Agency, Barr. Lawrence Oyelade Oyeniran stated that, methodology is very important and as a class teacher, they should improvise if the real object is not available for teaching.
He appealed to the need for a joint effort and collaboration in reducing crime so as to make the state of Osun great
among its peers.
Mr Oyeyemi therefore enjoined the N-power teacher to continue with their good work by adding value to the teaching system in the state.
