Community: Ede North Area Council Installs 500KVA Transformer To Community

It was a colourful atmosphere during the weekend, as the Executive Secretary, Ede North Area Council of the State of Osun, Comrade Mikail Uthman installed a 500KVA transformer to Awere Community, Owode Ede.

The provision of the transformer followed the request by the community to the council boss after years of darkness in the area.
Commissioning the transformer, Uthman said the move was imperative owing to the fact that residents of the area had witnessed years of darkness, saying the gesture was part of the priority of his administration to find lasting solutions to the plight of the people in the area of electricity and their other welfare.
According to him, this was because, his administration understands the connection between adequate power supply and the economic growth of the people dwelling in the community.
“There is no gainsaying in the fact that the issue of electricity in our community has been an epileptic one. A lot of businesses have folded up, many people have left the community only because of the unstable power supply. This is why we are committed to hit the ground running.
“It’s a dream come true for the people of Awere community after witnessing many years of darkness. I have made a promise to the community that I will do everything in my power to improve the standard of living in the society and to provide solution to any challenges.”
Commending Governor Rauf Aregbesola for initiating the Local Government Parliamentary System which helps in bringing government closer to the people, Uthman said without the governor’s support the gesture might not have come.
The council boss then lauded members of his cabinet, staff members and other stakeholders who have made the project a reality, urging them to continue to support his administration.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Kolapo Alimi lauded the council boss for his commitment and quick response to the demand of the people, saying, the gesture was an evidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a responsible one.
He said the administration of Aregbesola has always been committed to the plight of the people, but for the paucity of fund, saying, despite that, the government has been committed to the welfare of the people within the limited available resources.
Also, the APC leader in Ede, Alhaji Sule Alao tasked the people of the community to reciprocate the gesture through their votes for the APC with a view to ensuring continuity of developmental programmes and projects in the council and state in general.
One of the Community Leaders who spoke at the programme, Mr Oloruntoyin said the rate at which the council boss responded to the demand of the community was unprecedented, saying the gesture was well appreciated by the residents.
He then assured that the people of the community have been convinced that the administration is concerned with the welfare of the people, as several efforts have been made to other well-meaning individual without result.
