Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has described former Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom state as a great Nigerian with patriotic heart and extensive contributions to the subnational and national socio-economic development.

In a message issued to mark the birthday of Mr Udom, a banker turned politician, Governor Ademola said the former Governor is a committed brother who supports good causes and who is passionate about national integration and development where all sectors operate to improve the lives of the citizens.

Citing Udom’s sterling records as a Governor of Akwa Ibom state, the Osun Chief Executive noted the unparalleled multi-sectoral development witnessed in the state under Mr Udom and the strong foundation for growth and prosperity bequeathed on his successor.

“My brother, Emmanuel Udom, is a rare leader whose motivation for politics is development and human growth. More of his breed are needed in Nigeria to deepen our democracy and expand goal oriented public service. He remains a great light , a strong role model of selfless public service.

“As you add another year today, it is my pleasure to felicitate you and pray for your continued strength and wisdom to continue in service to the nation in relevant capacities. Every birthday is not just an avenue to count our blessings but also a time to reflect on the journey of life and appreciate the huge divine grace and mercy which uphold and sustain us through the vicissitudes of life.

“We are thus allowed to celebrate but with a sharp eye on the divine presence that gives us everything even when we are not worthy of anything. As a child of grace that you are, Emmanuel, my brother, I join you and your family, in praise and thankfulness to God Almighty.

“Enjoy your day brother. Happy birthday to a thoroughbred democrat, a fine gentleman and cosmopolitan politician.

Signed:
Mallam Olawale Rasheed,
