LENTEN: GOVERNOR ADELEKE FELICITATES CHRISTIANS

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO– 08/03/2025– Osunstate.gov.ng

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has felicitated with Christians in the state and beyond on the solemn occasion of this year’s Lenten period, urging them to use the sacred moments to pray for enduring peace and progress for Osun state and Nigeria.

Governor Adeleke underscores the spiritual significance of the Lenten period as the very foundation of Jesus Christ’s earthy Ministry, calling on Christians in the state to use the 40 days fasting period to rekindle bonds and strengthen relationships, especially with neighbours.

The Governor tasks faithfuls to emulate the example of Jesus Christ in extending a helping hand to those in needs during this period, noting that the message of sacrifice and compassion must not be lost on them.

“As Christians undertakes this year’s Lenten period, I offer my congratulations to faithfuls in Osun state and beyond. Lent is a sacred period, not only because it provides an opportunity for spiritual renewal, but also pass on the invaluable message of selflessness,” Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying.

“As exemplified by Jesus Christ, the 40-day fasting period is an opportunity for self-examination and growth in faith, strengthening resolve towards advancing the cause of humanity. I call on faithfuls to rededicate themselves to the symbolic message of Lenten, which revolves around sacrifice, compassion and selflessness.

“I also enjoins Christians to embody the life of Jesus Christ by fostering love, brotherliness and helping those in needs in our communities in whatever way possible as well as promote peaceful living. Let us not forget to ask for divine intervention for our state, especially at a time like this when certain elements are bent on disturbing its peace for selfish reasons.”

Governor Adeleke prays for this period of piety to bring peace, strength and spiritual fulfilment and hopes that this journey of faith contributes immensely to the continued peace and progress of Osun state and Nigeria as a whole.
