Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has pledged his commitment to rewriting the story of fake and unfulfilled promises by previous administrations to transform Iwo into an ultra-modern city saying that his agenda for the town is to bring the dream of a modern Iwo to reality.

The Governor stated this while addressing thousands of jubilant sons and daughters of Iwo who trooped out to receive the Governor at the Iwo Day 2025.
Senator Adeleke who expressed appreciation for the show of love from the people who accompanied him from Orieeru to Baptist Grammar School Adeeke said Iwo has been a strong pillar of support in the drive by his administration to develop Osun State.
Highlighting some of the manifestations of his development agenda for Iwo, Governor Adeleke said his administration has constructed about 20 kilometres of roads within Iwoland as well as the ongoing rehabilitation of Iwo Waterworks. “The goal is to relay the water pipes across the town. I have given approval for the upgrading and rehabilitation of the Iwo General Hospital.” The Governor added that his administration has sunk over 30 boreholes across Iwoland while the government rebuilt the collapsed Adeeke Bridge.
On the ongoing infrastructural projects in Iwoland, the Governor said, “The construction of the first ever dual carriageway road in Iwo town is ongoing. The first phase from Odoori to Post Office with a spur to the Palace is to be completed early next year. The road will have full solar street lights upon completion. We are working fast on the ongoing Ejigbo-Iwo road reconstruction. The work is progressing at a very fast pace.”
He noted that the “Osogbo- Iwo federal road has been awarded to three separate contractors to handle various sections of the road. The delay in full commencement of work on that federal road was due to the seizure of Osun funds by federal authorities. I can, however, confirm to Iwo people that work will start fully on the road early next year. “
“On the Ikire-Gbongan -Iwo federal road, I visited the Minister of Works early in the year and he promised to ensure better funding for the said road in 2026. Senator Lere Oyewumi was delegated to follow up with the Federal ministry. The ultimate goal in the future is to dualise the said road from Oluponna junction to Kara market, Iwo. “
While reacting to the boundary dispute with Oyo state, the Governor called the attention of sons and daughters of the ancient town to the fact that the National Boundary Commission that is handling the matter is a Federal Agency over which Osun state has no control over its decisions. “Be that as it may, our boundary agency at the state level is networking with Iwo sons and daughters at the federal level for support on the subject matter,” the Governor assured.
Earlier, the former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, had extolled the virtues of the Governor for his development agenda in Iwoland, saying the town will not desist from supporting the Governor and his administration.
