Hon. Justice Ganiyat Omobola Lawal (NEE AKINYELE) was born into the family of His Royal Highness (HRH) Oba Kamoru Abimbola Akinyele – A Lawyer by profession and the former Olu of Famia, Ile Ife, Osun State) and Late Chief Mrs Elizabeth Abiola Akinyele of Iredumi Compound in Ile Ife, Osun State on the 19th March 1973. She attended Agunbiade Primary School, in Somolu Lagos State, between 1978 – 1984 where she obtained her First Leaving Certificate. She later attended Baptist High School, Obanikoro
also in Lagos State between 1984 – 1989, where she passed her West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations in flying colours. Her quest for academic excellence took her to one of the country’s foremost and prestigious Ivory Tower – the University of Lagos, where she obtained her LLB (Hons) in Law in the year 1999.She was later called to the Nigerian Bar in the year 2001 after successfully navigating the rigours of the Nigerian Law School. His lordship began her legal tutelage with Messrs Bola Akinyele & Co immediately after the completion of her National youth service in 2002. Due to her commitment, diligence and dedication to the legal Profession, she became a Managing Partner in the Chambers. In the year 2021, she was appointed as a judge of the High Court in Osun State. Beyond the call of her legal profession, she has over the years used her wealth of knowledge, experience and personal resources to advance the cause of humanity in various capacities. This quest to contribute her quota to her humanity led to her being elected as the First Female Secretary-General of her Community Development Association (Happy People Estate CDA) in Magboro, Ogun State. The post she held until her elevation to the Osun State Bench. She has also recorded numerous “First” within her family and community circle, these achievements include, but not limited to being the First Female Lawyer within her Family and Iredumi Compound. She is noted amongst friends and professional colleagues to be endowed with sterling qualities which include Patience, open-mindedness, courtesy, tact, courage, punctuality, firmness,
understanding, compassion, humility and common sense, which she will be bringing to the service of the Osun State bench. Hon. Justice Lawal is happily married with Children to Alhaji Lawal Kazeem Akano – A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
