He disclosed this while declaring open a five-day workshop on “Best Journalism Practices in the Digital Age -Enhancing Reporting Skills”, organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Broadcasting Corporation Chapel in conjunction with American Consulate in Nigeria and the State Government of Osun.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the state, Mr Sunday Akere, who spoke on behalf of the governor, disclosed that journalism is a delicate profession; hence, practitioners must be aware of trends in reporting skills globally to ensure professionalism in their duties.
According to him, government would ensure the provision of an enabling environment for digital journalism to succeed among practitioners in the state.
He revealed the state government efforts aimed at ensuring availability of adequate manpower to serve humanity in line with its six-point integral action plan, adding that it would continue to ensure training and re-training of personnel in the state.
The governor also urged participants to put into practice new trends they learnt at the workshop to improve the practice of the profession in the state and the country as a whole.
Journalists were drawn from across media organisations in the state and five other states in the South-West from both print and electronic media.
The resource person at the workshop, Professor Lucinda Fleeson from the USA would engage journalists at the workshop on new digital practice in journalism for five days and the Consulate-General is expected to attend the workshop.
