You can not Build anything on Illegality, Osun govt fires back at Illegal APC Council Candidates

NEWS RELEASE

OSOGBO– 19/02/2025– Osunstate.gov.ng

The Osun State Government has dismissed the instruction issued by the sacked YES or NO officials as the theatrics of a gang of jesters, declaring that the election that produced them remained nullified by a valid court pronouncement.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Honourable Dosu Babatunde tasked the sacked council officials to come out of the illusion their unlawful break-in to Secretariat imposed on them, pointing out that they have no authority whatsoever on Local Government Councils in the state.

Hon. Babatunde maintained that by the combined effect of the subsisting judgment of the Federal High Court, Osogbo,Osun State in suit no FHC/OS/CS/103/2022 and that of Appeal Court in CA/AK/226M/2024, the ousted local government officials are unknown to the law, urging them not to go further with their brazen assault on the rule of law as impostors.

“It is quite absurd to learn that some people gathered at one point and confer on themselves what they are not. The show of shame that the illegal break- in and occupation of Local Government Secretariats across Osun state today is distasteful and further exposes the APC partymen as nothing but gangsters and lawless characters,” the statement reads in part.

“The truth, which is well known to every Nigerians and the global audience is that the APC partymen disguising as elected council officials are not a product of any democratic process but rather a concoction that won’t last, because it has no foundation in the 1999 Constitution (as amended) or the judicial system.

“If anything, the APC chieftains exposed themselves to contempt of court and possible charges for destruction and criminal tampering of public properties. The October 15, 2022 election that purportedly produced them has been invalidated by courts with valid and subsisting judgement of the Federal High Court, Osogbo in suit no FHC/OS/CS/103/2022 and the Appeal Court in suit no CA/AK/226M/2024.

“As an illegal group, they therefore have no power to freeze accounts or govern at the third tier level of government. By illegally occupying the offices, they violated clear court order as spelt out by the judgment in the APP versus APC suit.

“The judgement is still subsisting and yet to be set aside by a superior court, hence, sealing the fate of the impostors. The APC chieftains are therefore cautioned to withdraw from their journey of unconstitutionality or risk judicial sanction at the right time.

“The public are therefore enjoined to discountenance the court jesters who are obviously lashing on manipulation of state institutions to perpetuate their lawlessness. We are hopeful that the impostors trying to illegally abuse people’s resources, as the past clearly reminds us, will soon fizzle away.”

Signed:
Hon.Dosu Babatunde,
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
