Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has described as shocking and unfortunate, the sudden transition to glory of Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, calling the incident “a dark moment in South South political space”
The governor recalled the late politician’s strong ties to Osun state from 2022 to his exit, citing his positive contributions to the political development of Osun state as the Chairman of the Osun state gubernatorial primary committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022.
“In those turbulent days, the late Deputy Governor calmly resolved the feud by his now popular saying that the venue of the 2022 primary was the palace and that anybody looking for the king must come to the palace. I went on to win the primary and the state governorship elections of 2022.
“From then on, my brother, Governor Douye Diri permanently assigned him to host me in my several trips to Bayelsa. He was a superbly brilliant politician, a man who build and sustain bridges of brotherhood and partnership”, Governor Adeleke noted.
Consoling Governor Diri and the people of Bayelsa state, the governor tagged the late politician as “an extremely loyal Deputy Governor with sterling support base and who enjoyed the deep confidence and trust of his boss.
“I marvel at the brotherly pact between the governor and his deputy all the time. Senator Ewhrudjakpo was a tested politician, a reliable commissioner for Works during the two terms of Governor Seriake Dickson, a former Senator of the federal republic and a close ally of the performing governor of Bayelsa state.
“I associate and commiserate with my brother governor in this sad moment. I pray the good Lord grant him the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. To the family, I pray for divine strength and protection over those he left behind”, the governor was quoted as saying.
