Profile of the Ministry
The School Feeding Programme began in Osun State on 6th May, 2006 by Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola led administration for pupils from pre â primary class to primary two wi00th 1,500 cooks.
At the inception of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesolaâs administration on 30th April, 2012, the programme was re â named O âMeals as Osun Elementary School Feeding and Health Programme and it captured primary 1 â 4 Pupils of Public Schools with 3,000 cooks.
In 2018, Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola led administration engaged the services of 2,210 cooks for feeding of pupils from primary 1-3.
As part of the continuation of the good work, His Excellency Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke led Administration flagged off the programme with 2,470 cooks which captured primary 1-3 pupils of public schools on 15th November 2023.
Going forward, during the last dispensation, the enrolment figure was 95,983 pupils across the primary 1-3 in the public schools in Osun State. Due to the constant and regular feeding of pupils in our public primary school the enrolment of pupils has increased to 203,739.
However, the programme uses a multi- sectoral approach involving the Ministry of Education,Health, Agriculture, Accountant General, Information, Innovation, State Bureau of Statistics and Public Service Office.

To have well-nourished and healthy children, happy and eager to attend and complete their basic education in a friendly, attractive and stimulating learning environment.
Mision of the Program
To maintain a sustainable partnership of all stakeholders (parents, communities, policy makers, and other interested parties) and ensure provision of a daily free meal and preventive health services for all school children, as well as boosting domestic food production in the Osun State.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTION OF THE AGENCY
âĒ Providing a balanced meal for pupils daily
âĒ Deworming of pupils twice in a year to ensure that meals given to pupils are effectively utilized by the body and not fed to worms.
âĒ Monitoring and evaluation of the programme
âĒ Ensuring that funds are disbursed to all food vendors
âĒ Capacity building of Agency staff, teacher and food vendors

âĒ The scheme has been able to improve the enrolment of pupils in schools, retention and completion of basic education.
âĒ Improving the health status of the pupils.
âĒ Creation of employment opportunities for local women, small scale farmers, and medium enterprises.
âĒ Encouraging of partners (National and International) to contribute to their quotas to the growth of the education and economic development in the state

OPERATION DEPARTMENT
 Support Programme Manager on the day-to-day operation and monitoring of the Programme.
ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT
Custodian of the fund allocated to the agency
- The fund is specifically for the feeding of the pupils of primary one to primary three in all public primary school
- Raising of receipt voucher to facilitate payment aggregator and food vendors
- Bank reconciliation were preparing in a monthly basis to recognize both income and expenditure with the financial Account Department in the office of Accountant General.
- Effective retirement of all funds expended in the agencies is ensured
- Adequate and reliable financial document are prepared and kept to facilitate the auditing procedure of the both the local and the state Auditor General.
HEALTH AND NUTRITION DEPARTMENT
Supports Health/Nutrition Officer in each LGA to actualize the objective of the Programme.
Support with food safety and hygiene guidelines during food procurement, handling and preparation and also provide advisory same thematic areas.
Ensures effective school feeding and school health operational planning and implementation.
Support integrated health and nutrition interventions on HGSFP.
Support the deworming programme planning and implementation.
Coordinate school health and nutrition programme and monitor compliance
Coordinate the school menu reviews using the Plus School Meal Planner
MONITORING AND EVALUATION
- To provide feedback on programme outputs and outcomes to improve or strengthen programme implementation, as appropriate.
- To undertake monitoring in schools including communities using the approved HGSFP M&E Plan.
INFORMATION DEPARTMENT
- Support proper sensitization and awareness initiatives on NHGSFP within the State.
- Review editorials and news captions for HGSFP.
Ensure that appropriate pictures, videos and other items on NHGSFP are taken and uploaded to news agencies, and social media.
