Osun Government Charges Council Managers On Land Use Charge Implementation

The Government of the State of Osun has charged Council Managers in the State to work assiduously towards generating revenue through the Land Use Charge (LUC) which is the hope of sustaining the governance especially at this critical period.
The Head of Service, Mr. Sunday Olayinka Owoeye made this charge at the signing of the Consent Documents Ceremony at the Exco Chamber of the Governor Office.
Mr Owoeye, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mr. Ayanleye Aina, explained that the bill on the Land Use Charge has been passed to law by the State House of Assembly and assented to by the Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on March 19, 2016.
He therefore urged the Council Managers to cooperate fully with the consultant handling it with the aim of achieving the maximum revenue which the sharing formula has been agreed upon between the State and local governments.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mrs Adebimpe Ogunlumade  represented by the Accountant in the Ministry, Mr. Remi Ibrahim said it is ingenious of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to create alternative means of revenue generation for the State . She then warned them to avoid leakages of
the revenue.
In his address, the Chairman of Council Managers in the State, Mr Samson Odewale said it is a power donation which is for the good of the local governments and the people at the grassroots.  He, however, on behalf of all Council Managers promised total support and cooperation for the success of the programme.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Messrs Interspatial Consultant, Pastor Olamide Bolorunduro thanked the governor for his forthrightness at bailing the State out from relying on federal allocation which is not forthcoming. He therefore sought maximum cooperation from Council Managers for the success of the programme.
Highlight of the event was signing of the consent documents by the council managers .
Present were representatives of commercial banks, micro finance banks and  consultants.
