We Are Ready To Construct Markets To Boost State's Economy – Aregbesola

Inspection Tour to the Ongoing High School 4Everything is set for the Government of the State of Osun to build several markets across the state especially in Osogbo, the State Capital.

This was part of the disclosure made by the State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola during his inspection tours to the proposed market sites within Osogbo metropolis.

The train of Governor Aregbesola’s tours took place at the newly proposed Yam Market located at Awosuru area of Alekuwodo axis where Mr. Governor was given a tumultuous welcome by the enthusiastic market women and men who had already besieged the site.

Addressing the traders shortly after his inspection, Governor Aregbesola said in spite the current economic challenges facing the state, his government would not in anyway relent in its efforts to turn around the economy of the state through establishment of modern markets.

Aregbesola revealed that his administration has resolved to construct an ultra-modern yam market where varieties of yams and other food items would be bought and sold.

Speaking on the characteristics of the proposed market, Governor Aregbesola said the market when completed would ease the challenges being faced by the residents of the town in access daily commodities like yams, vegetables, peppers, meat among others.

Governor Aregbesola however noted that the market would be the only legalized yam market in Osogbo, saying all the yam sellers in the town would be concentrated in the market.

He therefore called on the market women to come up with their needs on the proposed market and forward it through their representatives to the government for quick implementation.

Meanwhile the train of Governor Aregbesola inspection moved to a popular placed called Igbo Kenya where the state government is proposing to build a neighborhood market.

Shortly after this, Governor Aregbesola moved to the ongoing construction site of Osogbo Government High School where he was equally received by enthusiastically by the artisans working at the site.

Governor Aregbesola inspection tours  didn’t stop at this but headed to a proposed new MDS market along Osogbo/Iwo road where he was warmly received by the traders  and market women.

On this site, one of the market women, Mrs. Funke Afolabi commended Governor Aregbesola for his high sense of passion and commitment towards the plight of the market women and the people of the state in general.

Mrs. Afolabi expressed gratitude to the state government for identifying with them and deeming it fit to construct a befitting market that if completed would accommodate the buyers and sellers conveniently.

She lauded the numerous achievements of Governor Aregbesola, saying his tremendous impacts have been positively felt by the people of the state.

Also in his reaction, one of the executives of MDS Traders Association, Chief Aloysius Umenweke implored the state government to do its best at ensuring that the dream of the market comes to reality.

Chief Umenweke said he would be happy if the government turn the proposed MDS market to the state central market where various commodities and wares would be bought and sold.

Those in company with Governor Aregbesola are; Former Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural and Community Development, Mr. Kunle Ige, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Architect Wale Ojo and other government officials.
