Osun Govt To Partner World Bank On Education – Commissioner

Mrs.-Titi-Laoye-TomoriThe Deputy Governor of Osun, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori, said on Wednesday in Osogbo that the state would continue to work with the World Bank to facilitate development of basic education.
Laoye-Tomori stated this when Dr Tunde Adekoya, a World Bank representative,, visited her to discuss the bank’s assistance to the state on basic education.
She said the government would continue to partner with the World Bank on its intervention fund for basic and post-basic education development projects.
The deputy governor, who doubles as the Commissioner for Education, restated the state government’s commitment to improving the standard of basic education.
She said the government planned to introduce local language to teach students at basic education level to ensure better understanding and assimilation in schools.
Earlier, Adekoya expressed the commitment of the World Bank to the development of basic education in Osun.
“The world bank will continue to support basic education in the state with provision of fund to train teachers and provide instructional materials in schools as it did in Ekiti and Lagos States,” Adekoya said.
