Traditional Worshippers Eulogise Aregresola For Promoting Yoruba Culture And Traditional Rebirth

The Traditional Religious Worshippers Association of Nigeria (TRWASO), State of Osun Chapter led by their President, Oba Olawuni Bamijoko, the Obakire of Ile-Ife has expressed their profound gratitude to the Governor, State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola for his support at reviving the hitherto moribund Yoruba cultures and tradition from going into extinction.

Oba Bamijoko gave the kudos to the Governor at the grand finale of this Year Annual Egungun Festival Celebrations which took place at the Palace of Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi, (Ilufemiloye 1).
The Obakire of Ife specifically thanked the Governor for identifying with traditional worshippers at each annual Isese Day and for declaring the 20th of August each year as a work free day for the celebration.
The President, TRWASO said that these two gestures are a pointer to the fact that, Governor Aregbesola does not want the Yoruba culture and traditions to die.
He therefore prayed for the success of the State of Osun while invoking the spirits of all deities in Yorubaland to give divine support to Governor Aregbesola to succeed in his efforts to transform the state.
Similarly, while saying his prayers for the state and Governor Aregbesola in particular, Chief Ifagbenusola Atanda, the Aare Alasa of Osogboland invoked the spirits of Yoruba ancestral gods to give protection to all citizens of the state and direct the Governor to rule judiciously.
Chief Ifagbenusola advised all Yorubas to know that, there is a clear difference between religion and tradition and as such they should not allow the former to endanger the latter because culture and traditions are two major tools through which a race is known and celebrated.
In his words at the festival, Hon. Mudashiru Oguntola Toogun, a son of Iwo and a prominent official in Governor Aregbesola’s administration expressed his gratitude to the state Government and the Governor for identifying with Iwo people on this year’s celebrations.
He therefore pledged the support of Iwo natives to the government and administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Highlight of the occasion was traditional Egungun dances by various Egungun from all nooks and crannies of Iwo who thrilled the spectators with other mouth-watering performances.
Security agents were also not left out at the festival as they were on ground to prevent the activities of hoodlums and miscreants at the occasion.
