The Chairman ,Special Committee on Fire Safety Matters, Hon Oguntola Mudashiru Toogun has lauded the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba AbdulRasheed Ayotunde Olabomi for leading the campaign against fire disaster in the State.
Hon Toogun made this commendation at the Aragbiji Palace while his committee was on a sensitisation tour to Aragbiji and his council.
He said the essence of visiting palaces is to guard against circumstances that may lead to loss of cultural heritage since fire is no respect of anybody and can damage with no limit.
Hon Toogun therefore urged the chiefs to serve as agents that would campaign against bush burning in all towns and villages.
Earlier, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba AbdulRasheed Ayotunde Olabomi thanked the Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola for setting up the committee whose function is to enlighten and sensitise the populace on prevention of fire disaster in the State
Oba Olabomi therefore advocated for a community based fire service whereby every community will be involved in the running of the activities of providing and maintaining the equipment for smooth running of the Fire Service.
He then promised total and unalloyed support for the committee in a bid to achieve zero fire disaster in the State.
Present were the secretary to the committee, Mr Toba Aluko and men of the Fire Service led by the Deputy Director, Mrs Moni Lawal.
In an exclusive interview with Tribune newspaper, Oba Olanipekun implored the people to be fair with Ogbeni Aregbesola and not politicize everything.
When asked if he thinks leaders cannot satisfy all by the Tribute reporter, Tunde Busari, Oba Olanipekun had this to say:
Who can satisfy all in this world? Go to Holy Quran and Bible, you will understand it better.
What happened to prophet Muhammed? What happened to Prophet Isah whom Christians call Jesus Christ? These examples are enough to tell you what I mean.
As far as I am concerned, the state government is doing its best and we are seeing what it is doing.
I am particularly giving credit to Ogbeni AbdulRauf Aregbesola for his courage to stick to his promise despite the unexpected situation he has found himself.
The song everywhere now even beyond Nigeria is that of economic recession. People should be fair to Ogbeni and face the reality.
We should be tolerant of one another regardless of our political affiliations.
People make political parties not the other way round. We should not use politics to interpret everything.
As a former civil servant, I understand the current situation but we still need to show understanding and persevere to reap the fruit in the end.
